First off I dont have one and dont need to buy one. I do have an ipod touch on order though.
Having said that maybe you are trying to hard in the interface or maybe you are just used to blackberries. I know about a dozen people who have played with one at the office, who I wouldnt trust to program the time on the VCR, and they can navigate the interface and do stuff fine. They love it. All of these people currently have blackberries too.
Not an insult but if I had to guess you like doing stuff on the command line, your a linux fan, and you like to hack your tivo. Let your grandma play around with it and see what she thinks of it. Im not a marketing expert but the iphone maybe great for its simplicity to the masses, like the ipod. Recall the largely negative reviews on this technical user site that the ipod got.
*Im not a fan of a non removable battery and would like to see GPS as well.
The FSF and RMS types have hijacked "free" to mean something else in this context. BSD is free, GPL isnt, at least my most peoples definition on the word.
To nitpick a router that blocks traffic is acting as a firewall.
Firewalls also almost always act as routers.
A router using ACLs also needs to be aware or session state in most cases.
"Firewall" products tend to offer more advanced features such as central policies, logging, advanced log filtering, alerting, etc.. Its not just windows users that want these features.
1) Point of a slight flaw in wikipedia. 2) Relate this flaw to a point about the Bush administration convincing americans, via half truths and out right lies, that Irag has WMD. He pointed out 2 different surveys on what americans think and it showed a significant rise (currently 50%) in the number of people that think Iraq has WMDs.
The point ( a satirical one ) was that you can make the "truth" want you want if enough people believe it, or edit a document.
Check point already has some "smart defense" features that try to do this. Its basically crap in my opinion. I dont want random firewall drops on ports I decide to allow because the software is trying to be smart. With a lot of improvement it could be useful though.
I get the point but a lot of peripherals work better on a Mac. The iPod syncs better, importing and editing video is easier, and if you want to use iPhoto its a lot smoother than anything Ive seen on a PC. On top of this bluetooth and iSync.
The x86 PC has more options and cheaper options but I would rather have something work better than it be a few bucks cheaper and be a hassle in the long run.
Copyright should only apply to shitty GPL lunix software not movies and music right?
Face it, lunix is third world software. To use the car analogy Appla fags love to use, its the equivilent of having a rusted pickup truck with a wooden flat bed on it.
I have a problem with a system that doesnt automatically prompt users to install critical patches, which then leads to widespread virus outbreaks which clog the internet with useless traffic.
BTW You can turn it off. Pre XP2 disable the "Automatic Updates" service. If your running SP2 disable the service and then go into the "Security Center" control panel and change what you get nagged about. Its under the "Change the way Security Center alerts me".
I think the default of having the firewall on and installing updates is good for 95% of the windows users out there. If these changes had been in place a few years ago we probably wouldnt see as many trojans out there.
It doesnt limit the total connection it limits the total imcomplete outbound connections. This is designed to slow virus and trojans since they scan random IP addresses. I dont know about shareza but Ive seen kazaa, limewire and bittorrent all work fine on several XP SP 2 machines.
The exact MS change is:
Limited number of simultaneous incomplete outbound TCP connection attempts
Detailed description
The TCP/IP stack now limits the number of simultaneous incomplete outbound TCP connection attempts. After the limit has been reached, subsequent connection attempts are put in a queue and will be resolved at a fixed rate. Under normal operation, when applications are connecting to available hosts at valid IP addresses, no connection rate-limiting will occur. When it does occur, a new event, with ID 4226, appears in the system's event log.
I predict that the next step will be an RFID tag in each pill. This way the government controlled doctors can just scan us to make sure we have taken our mandated mind-numbing medicine since the tags will be injested.
Sorry have to run, some black helicopters are hovering above my trailer...
Most people (outside of slashdot) think open source = BSD license or public domain. They dont know about different licenses, or the GPL.
Think about it, when you first heard of open source did it mean to you: 1) use it however you want or: 2) use it and keep any modifications or anything that uses it available as well?
Do a search now for "dual" in the PC section and you'll find used dual 733 or 866 dell workstations for 179. These are fast systems for everything except the latest games. If you dont feel like spending this much you could get down to 100 for a single cpu system.
I sniff traffic all the time using ethereal, etherpeek, and tcpdump. I do this to verify traffic from remote customers, help debug developers custom applications, and estimate bandwidth usage by application. I dont have a need for ettercap, man in the middle attacks, or arp poisoning though. Sniffers do have many legitimate uses other than spying on email and IM sessions.
I just use pop3 and smtp commands inside a telnet window(ex: telnet mailserver 25 or 110). I consider this the safest. I dont know what pine is doing behind the scenes.
The problem with your point is:
1) Classes are not balanced.
2) Other FPS style games do "arena" fights much much better.
3) It takes a stupid amount of time to get to the point you can actually do arenas if all you want to do is PVP.
First off I dont have one and dont need to buy one. I do have an ipod touch on order though.

So let me get this straight:
1) People use computers to pirate dvds.
2) People use consumer DVD players to watch DVDs.
This sony fix only stops #2 on selected players?
The point of the whole story was 2 things:
= colbert%20wiki for the sketch in question.

It would require reloading/patching all devices and the server software on all customer servers.
Probably more a reference to looks than actions.

riaa price fixing
1. Type "about:config" the address bar.
2. Scroll down to the setting "network.prefetch-next" and set the value to "False".
I have an MP3 player in my car where I listen to the majority of my music. MP3 cds also hold quite a bit more than a standard cd audio CD.
The DRM forces me to write to a CD and then reconvert to MP3 if I want to use it.
Considering its not much more to buy from amazon or circuit city and get a real CD thats not already compressed Ill stick with that.

Via the very large tax on gas?

Intel stopped the p4 4ghz because of the heat problems. The Athlon XPs did run hotter than P4s at the time but Athlon 64s are much cooler.

I dont buy anything until it hits version 2 and gets all the bugs out.
Ebay is your friend....

Should everyone program in assembler?
How about in C, should everyone use just the standard libraries and nothing else?
Forget all the included libraries in KDE/Gnome, if you dont know how to program your own GUI you shouldnt be doing any GUI programming.
