I read the report. As long as companies say what Greenpeace wants to hear, Greenpeace will blow sunshine up their ass. What Greenpeace thinks company should be doing and what they actually have done appear to operate in two different universes. Timeline statements are meaningless. Apple is committed to phasing out the chemicals of concern and has eliminated many toxic chemicals in advance of RoHS directives. But complying with and being better than industry standards is _BAD_ if it's not done according to Greenpeace's expectations? We'll see where Lenovo is with it's promises in 2009.
You'll get modded down for defending an essentially useless "report" for the sake of trolling for Apple supporters.
Everything Greenpeace does is designed to generate press for Greenpeace to boost donations. EPEAT's ranking, using real world metrics and not the nonsense Greenpeace invented, reverse Greenpeace's findings. Is the US EPA now an Apple "fanboy" as well?
Greenpeace has no credibility on this subject. They target Apple for the pure media blizzard it generates. They give hi marks to marketing bullshit on company websites and dismiss international standards which companies like Apple have already met or exceeded.
And as for "outright false articles", stop making it so easy to spot those whom have never read a complete Roughly Article article. You won't look as stupid.
...provide me a list of these third party applications that people cannot live without and without which, the iPhone supposedly isn't smart.
Because I can tell you in advance, being a "power user" that there are no killer apps for mobile phones (the phone is the killer app!) and the third party apps that so many critics seem to be flagellating themselves over do not matter one little bit to the consumer. Not even to consumers who use their phones for more than just making calls.
The state of third party apps for phones is pathetic, and is not a driving force for why people purchase feature laden phones.
The web contains all the possible information available concerning the Apple/PARC relationship. Is it that hard to disabuse yourself of flatly wrong garbage concerning Apple and the Mac interface?
It's not going to be a new movie. It's going to be a "re-imagined" version of the first movie, with Sword Guy shooting first, and Charlton Heston will appear as a spirit at the end to smite the Nazis.
No, I'm not looking forward any further projects where George Lucas has a say in the story, plot, dialog or direction.
They actually mention that the botnets and security flaws they are talking about are Microsoft problems, and not some flaw with the Internet or "PCs" in general.
Seriously, every last single dire article about the state of internet security that appears in the Edmonton Journal (for eg) steadfastly refuses to lay the sorry state of home users security at the feet of the company almost entirely to blame. It's amazing how general they keep the articles in order not to admit the obvious.
It's a question designed to put people on the defensive, categorizing their problem or problems with Microsoft as "hate". It's misdirection. A better question is neutral, structured in a way that does not assume anything about the person being questioned. In which case "What is your opinion of Microsoft" or possibly "What concerns do you have with respect to Microsoft" is a better approach. Recognizing that a tried and convicted monopolist is bad for consumers and stifles competition cannot be properly described as "hate".
...that many consoles gamers are morons. But no less idiotic than movies fans who stood in line for a film that premiered simultaneously in 4000 theatres.
Apple is making insanely great products again, all systems are go, and their have a hammerlock on an emerging market. So while we don't need cheerleader articles, why is so hard for these people to accept that Apple is successful and it's not going to go out of business anyday now?
When Vista hits the stores (and let's face it, it will probably sell extremely well) are we going to see a myriad of articles on the complete disater that was Windows Millennium, or, Hey, what about a pathetic thing called Bob?
I don't $@#king think so.
but those guys who gave us Bob and Clippy rule the PC landscape and are billionaires/millionaires.
...and that's just awesome and makes up for all the garbage they've foisted on the consumer. As long as someone gets nauseatingly rich it's good for... well, for them anyway.
I was at an in office product training/demo put on by a major manufacturer of securty cameras and networked digital video recorder systems. At one point in the training, the issue of time zones, clock settings and timestamping of recorded video came up. The main user control/access software was running on Windows, so it was an important part of the setup to make sure that the PC had the proper time zone, was set by a time server and all equipment was synced using the correct time for that zone. The rep mentioned that they were looking at some sort of timing system that would allow them to timestamp video independent of timezones, across a network so that the time on a machine in one zone would correspond without translation to the time on a video from another time zone.
I looked at him and said "That would be GMT."
All I got was 3 second blank look and then a mumble about "something something I guess".
This wasn't a salesrobot either. This was a seasoned system installer and former top tech support director. I was slightly floored that he wasn't aware of a solution that militaries all over the world use quite effectively. He made it sound like they were actively re-inventing the wheel on the concept.
Please give it a rest. The GUI as you know it was developed by Apple, based on the ideas contained in PARC which Apple acquired legally and without guile.
With all the real history contained on the web, apparently the repetition of a few trite phrases still trumps actual knowledge.
That would be in order to avoid the bombing and state-sponsored terrorism the US directly or indirectly supports. Thye have the odd notion that maybe if they are in actually in the US, the US won't try to kill them.
We may have had to wait longer to see the new "Battlestar Galactica", but we Canucks have had Firefly on Space: The Imagination Station since almost immediately after it was cancelled.
"With hindsight however it's clear that the Tsunami was predicted by thousands of talented pyschics and prominent clairvoyants it's just that it the general population did not interpret the predictions correctly."
Please tell me this is sarcasm. Because I already know enough to classify it as post hoc nonsense.

Who modded that idiot screed "Insightful"?

Now if they can realign the EPS conduits to work with this burgeoning ODN.

Maybe this time they will ditch the overdub errors that remain in the "Director's Cut" version.

... That there are people and organisations that actually want, need and desire a new weapons race?
When, exactly, did the ESRB rating have any credibility and/or utility?

I'd be happy if someone undertook a study to find the PLOT behind the Prequels...
Congratulations. You are a humourless wad with a now terribly ironic Nick.
I guess Giant Tiger should sue as well.
