They didn't eat each other, they just killed the women and children in their sleep and then committed suicide. Much better than being captured by the romans IMO
I wonder what other battles they have planned? I think that an episode of Masada, where the Roman Legions attempted to lay seige to a Jewish fortress on a mountian top with very very few men would make for an interesting show.
That sounds like a good theory for now. I saw the references to Gulliver's Travels and The Tempest too . One of the passages says "hold your self together girl" so mabye we're getting a little of Cortana in there too? or mabye another AI?
Asheron's Call had a pretty broad story line the beginning of the game. Black spires appearing over the countryside, shadows terrorizing people (players). I was never involved with those parts of the story, I was still way way too low level to leave the towns, but I heard of players bringing down the spires and such. Mabye someone who is more of an AC vet can expand on this for us?
Naw, sounds too much like Postal 2. I dont' want to be fragging people across from the Safeway or in the old lady next door's back yard. It's too personal, I play to get away from those places.
I agree with the relative idea of 'good enough'. I got my LCD because my desk space is at a premium, I've been doing homework at the kitchen table and it's none too easy to do stats when your roomates are watching the latest Family Guy DVD three feet away. As for the contrast and crispness, I've found that my NEC MultiSync LCD1765 is actually better in that department than my KDS 19" CRT. There is no deformation of the text when scrolling and all of my games look just as good as with the CRT, no ghosting anywhere. Of course that is all relative to the person as is the usefulness of the LCD.
Only if you're comparing a 19" CRT to a 19" LCD. A CRT's viewable image is generally an inch or two smaller than the listed size so a 19" is really only 18" or 17.5" viewable. A similar LCD comparison would be a 17" due to the LCD displaying the entire 17" image.
Also a good 17" LCD is generally in the $500 range. Granted it may not be able to do 1600x1200 but unless one is working professionally with photoshop or the like 1280x1024 is good enough for the majority.
I'm suprised no one has mentioned the new Tony Hawk Underground game. This game has the most advertising I've ever seen, anywhere. All the skate companies are represented, element, Adio, and Billabong to name a few.
Nokia billboards are relatively pervasive on the Tampa course as are complete McDonalds restaruants in Manhattan.
The great thing though is that the skate companies are used as potential sponsors for your character so their impact is part of the depth of the game. The Nokia and McDonalds are a little less relevant but while I'm doing a darkslide down a concrete barrier in Manhattan it adds to the idea that I'm in the real world when I can pass by the Mickey D's and knock some poor shlub's super size sugar water out of his hands.
Per the wired article, the artificial diamonds only glow at specific light frequencies from specially made machines distribuited by DeBeers as a way for jewlers to distinguish the artifical ones.
Why was the owner suprised the men weren't taking the quarters? Aren't those quarter's the arcade owner's? It's his arcade, he bought the machine, why would men in black suits come and take his money?
I"m pretty excited about the new man-made diamonds that are supposed to be able to keep moore's law going for decades when they come out. Wired had an article recently and a post here on/. too
So you are totally against all war games unless they are fictional correct? Well there goes Battlefield 1942, the Medal of Honor series, VietCong, and countless other turnbased war games that are out there. All of those games use real situations as a basis for their gameplay. Your argument that using real theaters of battle is immoral will shut down thousands of games, some you likely enjoy. If your problem is with perfect recreations of battlefields I can understand that, but representative situations of real war is never going to go away, people want to play war games.
I wish these guys the best of luck. I've wanted to see a rad new console from them since they axed the SNES. The N64 and GC just dont' have the software I want right now, If they start to attract the developers that the PS2 and Xbox have then they will be a player in the console arena again.
Look at who the article is from again man, GAMEPRO. The same magazine who's one time claim to fame was that they had a comicbook superhero, the GamePro, as a mascot. Ever since then, I take all gamepro reviews with a grain of salt.
Too much money wasted on a stupid marketing comic = bad bad bad reviews
There was a Blade Runner video game. It was produced by Westwood and I think it was published by EA. You diden't play as Dekkard, but you played as another bounty hunter parallel to the story in the movie. IIRC you actually ran into Dekkard several times in the game.
I can totally see a rocket launcher in the SW universe. Not everyone is a Jedi capable of destroying things easily. A rocket would be very useful to take out enemy armor as shown by the land battle in Episode 2 armor is there, and they are equipped with rockets themselves, it's only a small step down to a personal rocket launcher.
Because it works, very very well
Come on guys, I know we've all given up on DNF, isn't there some other vaporware we can bash? I'm tired of Duke.

Alas, plans have already been made. Though the thought did cross my mind, she may be interested, but not enough to make a date out of it.
Of course this is brought to my attention the weekend I have a date.. Hmmm, choices, choices......

Mabye they should put out a 10-in-1 TV Game like everybody else and pull some cash in that way. Now to find 10 old Acclaim games that I liked.....

Hummmm, special 2d barcodes to relate product infomation to consumers? CueCat anyone?

IIRC the G is Geffen as in David Geffen. The S is for Spielburg and K for Katz. Bill has nothing to do with Dreamworks.

Ahh, the rebels will have a field day with this one, all they have to do is unplug the GBA
