  1. Odd balance on I, Robot Trailer Available · · Score: 4, Interesting

On the one hand, this movie has Will Smith in it. That definitely makes the film look unattractive, considering Will less-than-stellar work.

On the other hand, we've got Alex Proyas as the director, who did both Dark City and The Crow. Both were very good films, and I think we should give this film a chance to turn out just as well.

So basically, this is the Sega Nomad with built in games? With a limited amount of games for it, it might be better to just get a Nomad off of eBay with a bunch of games instead.

The creators of Superman were Jewish. They needed names that sounded alien for the characters, so they just used Hebrew sounding names, which at the time wouldn't be that well recognized by the general public.

If the software is good, people will buy it. Many of us Linux users support the companies that sell software for it, both because we want to support the creation of Linux software and because we simply don't have a problem with doing so if the software is worth it.

  13. Re:Something to learn on Electronic Arts 'Scores' With Product Placement · · Score: 1

Who says the game is going to be cheaper? I haven't seen any games sold for less because of product placement. I think these companies are just pocketing the money made from ads as added profit instead of increased budget. And that only makes the ads not worth it to the consumer.

  14. Mozilla vs Firefox on Knoppix 3.3 Update, 3.4 C't Edition Are Out · · Score: 1, Insightful

Mozilla 1.6 isn't bad, but I'd rather see Mozilla Firefox added to Knoppix. That's the one of the few must-have programs that Knoppix is missing right now, and would increase the value of this distro if it was included.

  15. Re:They act like they're surprised on Second Life MMO Attracts Commercial Land-Buyers · · Score: 2, Interesting

You can use an ad filter to block web ads. You can use a Tivo or other similar device to skip ads. You can fast forward the DVD.

In a game, you can't take control of the situation and eliminate the problem. You are subjected to it whether you like it or not. The problem isn't just the presence of the ads, but the fact that they are inescapable.

  16. Definition of maturity? on Games Gone Wild - The Rise Of The Adult Title? · · Score: 3, Interesting

Who says M rated games are "adult"? Just because the ESRB calls them "Mature" doesn't mean they are mature in the real sense of the word. A several of the games that get the M rating are quite immature, relying on sex, violence, or toilet humor to make them enjoyable. Personally, I wish that the ESRB would change the name of the M rating to something more fitting. A truely mature game would have a literary quality to it, not a sophmoric quality.

And why isn't the AO rating used more? Surely Manhunt deserved it. I think one of the weaknesses of the rating system as it stands is that it allows companies to skip out on using the highest rating as they wish.

But is E2 GNU? Does it let you edit articles to deal with misinformation? And is it a true encyclopedia with so many fiction stories and opinion articles?

That's what makes Wikipedia different from E2. E2 is a collection of writings with some encyclopedia-like articles; Wikipedia is a true encyclopedia, giving only facts.

I think Knoppix works better than Suse live eval. I tried Suse live eval and got a message talking about installing it. That would definitely scare someone who wants to run it live instead of installed. Knoppix, on the other hand, doesn't make the start-up confusing - just hit Enter at the command line and it goes.

  20. GBA Famicom on Neglected Classic Games That Deserve Remakes? · · Score: 1

I was kind of disappointed when I heard that the rereleases of classic Famicom (NES) games for the GBA in Japan was going to be unalter versions instead of graphically updated versions. I mean, just updates of Ice Climber and/or Legend of Zelda would have been enough to make me extremely pleased.

  21. Re:Poorly translated games on Neglected Classic Games That Deserve Remakes? · · Score: 1

  22. Linux on GBA or DS on Linux Now Booted On GameCube System · · Score: 2, Interesting

This is cool, but I'd rather see Linux on the GBA, or maybe even the DS. A Linux distro on a portable system would be quite useful for those of us who want to have a makeshift PDA. Concidering the DS uses rewritable media, I think it could be done.
