4+ is not even a major limit, considering that the DS supports 16 players locally (and who knows how many via wi-fi) and there are no limitations on screens and processing power as each unit handles its own
The major limitations would be the number of characters each DS can display on screen at each time and the practical number you can have on each map without it being unplayable
All in all it would be far better than the original multiplayer and thats saying something!

  6. Re:Ladies and gentlemen.... on EA Cranks Up Villainy For GoldenEye 'Sequel' · · Score: 3, Insightful

I can definetely see the potential for a good game - it is a whole new spin on Bond since you get to play the role of the bad guy.

But since they were going to all the trouble of coming up with a whole new storyline and a brand new main character, they had absolutely no reason to call him Goldeneye, other than to cash in on the success of the original Goldeneye game. They could have given this character any other name and succesfully expanded the Bond universe, but by using the name Goldeneye they will only confuse people as to what Goldeneye is, is it a satellite or a person?
I was slightly annoyed earlier when I posted because its things like this that really give marketers and such a bad name and I would like it if it was a good game, but I just wish they didn't have to go down this road of tricking the public - the game should be good enough to stand by itself and create its own reputation without having to trick people into buying it

  7. Ladies and gentlemen.... on EA Cranks Up Villainy For GoldenEye 'Sequel' · · Score: 4, Insightful

I present to you the lamest marketing ploy ever!

As much as I would like a new Bond game of the quality of goldeneye, I sincerely hope that this is a huge failure - simply because of the marketeers or execs at EA that think they can pull stunts like this. It would have been bad enough to make a sequel to Goldeneye since the first game covered the entire span of the film, but to use the name Goldeneye in a Bond game and to justify it by making up such a lame story is unbelievable.

..but there is a major element missing in many games that limits the appeal of this - good storylines

Its the story that keeps you coming back to TV shows or book series or movie series and the same should be true for episodic gaming. Whether it would actually succeed is a whole different issue, but the chances are quite slim. The time required to produce each episode will be too long, sure once the core engine is written it will speed up as developers learn the system, but it will still be no small task to produce each episode. Maybe one day it will be a possibility but I don't think yet

  10. Re:Dresden, etc. on WW2 Aerial Photographs Go Online · · Score: 5, Informative

I don't disagree that the fire bombing of Dresden was an atrocity, but when Germany began bombing London, Britain was by no means able to defend itself

At the start of the Battle of Britain, the Luftwaffe had 3000 planes within range of southern England, the RAF had 1200 planes for defense. At this point, pilots in the RAF were sent into combat roughly 4 weeks after first stepping into a plane. The Luftwaffe could put about 1600 planes in the air every day, more than the entire RAF even owned, the RAF could put 650-700 planes up if needed, although the bare minimum had to be scrambled to keep the reserves strong. The Luftwaffe began the campaign by targeting front line fighter fields and at the rate the bombers were coming in, ground crews simply could not keep runways operational. Had the battle continued as it was, the RAF would have been decimated within weeks.

The twist however came when an RAF bomber squadron lost their way over Germany and reportedly bombed the outskirts of a major German city by accident. This enraged Hitler who immediately ordered ALL bombers to target London. This single command allowed the RAF to repair the runways and get their planes in the air, and it also meant that they knew where every single German plane was going to. Had Hitler not given that one command, it is likely that the RAF would have fallen in 2-3 weeks, German landing forces would cross the channel before winter set in and Britain too would have fallen. Had this happened, the US would not have been able to get involved and the world today would be a different place.

I am British and I am not proud of Dresden, I know that I most likely would not be writing this today if it wasn't for the US and Russian forces, but personally I have the greatest amount of respect for the pilots of the Battle of Britain who were willing to face such over-whelming odds against an airforce that had already stormed through Europe and barely stopped for breath, yet they stood up to them and in the end did what was needed of them.

    1. If Trinity did not die, Neo would never have given up the fight and allowed Smith to win, he might not even have been willing to make the deal with the machines

    3. That was necessary for Neo to lose his sight and gain his new vision of the machines in the real world, yes he had this before, but think about it, if you lose one sense, others become more focused. Also it showed Neo that Smith had found a way into the real world and therefore once he was done with the matrix he would set his sights on the real world, so he had to be stopped now

    4. Neo was not dead, when you saw him on the back of the ship/machine taking him away, he was the brightest light in the shot, that surely means he is still alive

    5. It wasn't that he gave up, think of Neo as containing the code of the one, as the architect put it in reloaded, Neo realised that to destroy Smith, his code had to become one with Smith, much in the same way in fact that the powerful smith was created from the Ones code joining with original smiths code

    6. The One is far more integrated into the machine world than we had previously been led to believe. It is another part of the system of control. Neos powers were seen to grow and eveolve, hence the reason that the matrix required the one to be found after 100 years, after that time the one would discover new powers and be able to defeat the machines. Obviously the one is supposed to be re-integrated before any of this can happen. If any of the previous ones had not been reintegrated, they would have had the power and ended the war, but this time the factor that changed everything was Smith so everything had to happen differently

Admittedly Reloaded/revolutions are not what I originally expected but I have enjoyed them both greatly and am extremly happy that they were made
