Do those figures include monthly payments that some MMOs require?
Not that I disagree PC gaming is on the downward slope, all you have to do is walk into any video game store where there is one tiny rack in the middle of the store with a few PC games, but the place is wall-to-wall console stuff.
No. It should be up to society. Some people are just too thick at act responsibly. And car manufacturers are hardly going to build cars for 'a few stupid idiots' - they will design a car and market it hard, and try to sell as many as possible. Regulating will take away the option to make cars suitable for the dumb.
Too bad you weren't on GM's board of directors back in the 90s.. (hummer)
I just got back from a trip to Japan, many people there use the DS as a PDA. I've seen them used as a learning supplement devices as well.
I'm not sure if these different uses were spearheaded by Nintendo or the developers, but in Japan they seem to use the DS for everything you mentioned in your post.
Actions are louder than words. If he accomplishes it, great, give him the award then. He hasn't done anything to this point, and if he wants to come out looking like the good guy he will decline the award knowing he's done nothing to deserve it yet.
Hmm, I got my 310N this past spring for $80 through newegg, guess I got lucky.
Price points being equal, I'd still take linksys over netgear any day. From personal experience linksys routers last about twice as long as netgear routers.
Considering it hadn't been thought of before, I guess it takes more foresight than you're willing to admit.
Face it, most laws are reactions to a specific event. People are always wanting to push the boundries... sometimes the laws exist but need to be updated. You just don't know that it's outdated until someone abuses it.
I don't think it's a flaw that our system can adapt to new situations. Do you want to be the person who's locked away in a room writing new laws for millions of things that "could" happen?
Not that the system doesn't have it's flaws, but adaptability isn't one of them.
You think they'll be able to reverse aging? If I were going to get myself frozen with hopes the future would be utopic, I'd want to do it before I hit 40 so that my body would still be in good enough shape from that point forward.
The future may be able to extend life and cure disease, I'm a bit skeptical on reversing the aging process.
And just curious, that place started up in 72 I believe, have they brought anyone out sucessfully?
This is just a proof of concept project. Honda encourages engineers to pursue "pet" projects in mobility. The ones with promise are given more resources. Sometimes they even become actual products, like Honda Jet.
Are you reading and posting on/. during work? Is it really that much different from the cops playing Wii while on duty?
Now I'm not saying it's exactly the same. Clearly they should not have been playing someone else's Wii during a drug bust and I hope they are suspended without pay for a week.. but everyone goofs off a bit at work, it helps up regain focus.
I'd hope the artist and his lawyers would make sure no claus like that existed in the contract before proceding with the lawsuit... IANAL and didn't even sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night yet know enough to check for that first.
Sending 5 officers to the scene where someone supposidly is walking around with an assault rifle is common. Most police departments carry substantially weaker armaments around on normal patrols. For quick response the best bet is to send every unit in the area.
Yeah, the gun looks real until you put it in perspective. Did you look at the picture in the article? There's no way that guy could carry around a gun that big the way he's holding it. Once you put a person with the gun it no longer looks real.
The person who called it in as an AK-47 should be arrested for being a moron. Not knowing the type of gun is completely acceptable, but calling that an AK-47?!?
Unique sounds I can understand... but the sound people make using a child's toy? Unless it sounds exactly the same every time, it's rediculous. NBC's chime is always the same. The noise coming from a duck call? You can make it sound like a real duck, or like a fart, or like the most annoying sound in the world (Joan Rivers' voice). How can you trademark something so varied?
PvE mmorpg servers seem to be missing a huge element of the game. Like most people, I hate getting killed... especially to a much higher level or when I was involved in some other task. But I can't imagine playing an online game with hundreds/thousands of other people without getting to "interact" with them. I'm on a very low pop PvP server.. so low population that there's practically no PvP going on except at meeting stones and of course the battle grounds. It's boring.. I can't remember the last time someone tried to gank me. Part of the thrill is killing someone who got the jump on you.
Sure pvp isn't for everyone, if you want protection travel in small groups. These games aren't designed for solo play.
I agree that most probably are unreasonable. I've read stories where people have had their laptop seized at the border because a border agent claimed they saw kiddie porn on the screen. While a complete possibility... seriously?!? Kiddie porn is the one excuse "law" enforcement can use that no one wants to argue against.
We have one MFG plant and a few tier 2 suppliers in Mexico and occasionally travel there for business. We were informed to leave our laptops at home if we drove across the border to eliminate the risk of it being seized for "review'.
Best thing you can do is not to take your laptop. Second best thing (if you had to have the laptop on the trip) is to have it packed away and out of sight when crossing the border. Sure they may ask if you have one and ask to see it.. but out of sight, out of mind could possibly help out.
I'd probably get some work done... though I'm not sure how since our data is stored in Colorado and I'm in Ohio.

One Server Per Child?
So that they can be as miserable as the rest of us married folk!

It'll probably be 2015 before a decent EV car comes out anyway. Battery technology still isn't there.
Considering it hadn't been thought of before, I guess it takes more foresight than you're willing to admit.

Well at least they're not Sony or Microsoft... :)
Compared to those two companies, Nintendo is still an angel!

It's completely beyond my comprehension why anyone would think it's ok to surf for porn at work. Clearly common sense is no longer a factor in hiring.

It was actually my mom's sewing machine... twice.. and she had to pay someone to put it back together.
At least I realize now why I never got an allowance.... I broke it, I bought it.

China has 4x the population and roughly 46x the amount of executions as the US (based on 2008 figures).
Since 1976, 1173 people have been executed in the US (37 in 2008, 37 so far in 2009)
In 2008 alone, China executed 1718. So China executed 46% more people in the year of the Olympics than the US has executed in the last 33 years.
It just seems like more people in the US are executed because trials are usually drawn out for many years and are very publicized.

Hopefully now I can fly over Stormwind and drop into the water and catch a fish for the achievement!
