while in college most of my profs had the idea that if you get an A on the final, it doesn't matter how well you did previously, you get an A in the class.
I think adapting something like that would be very good at all levels. Everyone bombs a test once in awhile, but the purpose of school is to learn, and if you can learn from your bad test you deserve to get a higher grade.
Blizzard had to do it, there were so many unbalanced realms that one faction would have instant queues and the other faction would have 4-5+ hour waits. When I was still playing I would log in as soon as I got home from work, queue up every BG then wait 2-3 hours to get in one.. some evenings I would never get in AV after waiting for 5 hours.
If I hadn't lost my motivation to play games I would probably try it out. I guess sometimes getting older does that to a person..
If Democrats are so enlightened why did Obama get the nod over Hillary? The "enlightened" apparently bought into the hype of someone with no credentials.
I'm not in IT, I've been on the business side for one of the profitable auto manufactorers for the past 8 years. Our IT group is actually a separate division and will bill my division for work done (our hardware maintenance is sub-contracted out at the discression of each office around the country). There is no underlying animosity between business and IT here, maybe because IT is treated as a segment to the business and not a support function...
It seems like most of the posts that have been modded up, to this point, make it sound like every manager is a baffoon and no one ever respects the IT guy. Maybe if people didn't go in with the attitude of "me vs them" the situation would be better. Our on-site IT guy covers two locations and about 300 users, he's well respected.. and that's probably because he brings a good attitude to work.
Don't lie, you were going to vote Democrat no matter who won the nomination for both parties. If you can't see the flaws in every candidate then you aren't looking.
MS hands out free copies of Windows to schools, get the kids use to Windows at an early age so when they grow up they buy legit copies.
Google puts a satelite in orbit to give broadband access to a new market, who do you think gets the ad revenue when hundres of millions of people gain access to the internet courtesy of Google?
My litmus test is this, if you replace Google with Microsoft in the story, how does it sound?
They already have a replacement for Mythbusters - Smash Lab.
They blow shit up just as good, they seem far more competent with basic physics, and they don't have the world's most horribly forced and scripted conversations/introductions.
You are kidding, right? I know invention requires a lot of trial and error.. but come on.. 2/3rds of their ideas are so ridiculous I can tell right away that they stand no chance in hell of working... yet they turn it into an hour show. Not to mention the entire team lacks TV personality. What's the purpose of the show anyway... to come up with solutions to problems that could never be implemented in the real world? Give me a big budget and a tv show and I'll put balloons on everything to minimize damage in a collision...
Mythbusters is entertaining (even if I've seen the episode 4 times already).. Smash Lab means I surf for something else to watch.
Boot him where? Without Adam Savage "Mythbusters" loses quite a bit of its' luster. I would be willing to bet "Mythbusters" is one of Discovery Channel's more popular shows.
does that mean I would have to masturbate even more?!?

Google Chrome, Day 2

Plus the people most likely to use Chrome, the tech crowd, are also going to be the early adopters. Growth may continue after a week, but at a very slow pace unless Google actively pushes Chrome every time someone uses the search engine.
Considering the knowledge and technology gains since then, I do think it's completely fair to set the standards higher. Just because WE did it doesn't make it right... and let's look at the population difference... I'm taking a wild guess, but the Chinese population is probably at least 10x the amount of the US population during our formulative polluting years.. if China follows the same path we did, it will be devastating even if they don't reach the same level of industrialization.
Or how sad how many Americans have fallen in love with Obama even though he hasn't done anything but blow smoke up everyone's ass? Maybe he'll be a great president.. I don't know because so far all he's done is talk about change.. changing what though?
I just sit back, let everyone rip on each other for a couple months, then decide in mid-October who'll I'll support. Until then I just try to convince my friends to keep an open mind.
I actually find it easier to read the white letters on a green background. The white background can overpower text for me which makes the text look fuzzy. I had to get glasses to wear at school when they started replacing the chalk boards with dry erase boards.
But I realize everyone will have their own preference.
Let's say the IOC grows a pair, strips China of it's team gold medal and strips any other medals won by the gymnasts not of age... Would the people of China ever hear about it? Will the masses ever know their government purposely cheated to win a few more medals?
Birth records are closely kept in the US and other develloped nations, not so everywhere around the world. We have a guy in our office that was born in Pakistan, he doesn't know his real birthday, only the year and month. For people born in small villages far away from any major cities, it probably isn't a common practice to note the exact date of the birth.
What always bugged me about textbooks was the new revisions that always seemed to be coming out. If you can't get a math book right by revision 14, you should be fired and publically flogged for being incompetant. Shame on the profs that required the most current revision every quarter/semister, they should have their tenure stripped.
Well, the article is about/. and so is my post.. but has anyone else noticed a difference in how mod points are awarded? I check/. this morning at work and had 15 moderator points. Anyone else see this? The FAQ still says you only get 5 points and they expire after 3 days.
Even if the ISS appears to be a black hole for money, it does bring some collaberation between different space agencies and it also is a needed first step towards setting up more permanent (and useful) space bases.
I'm glad you feel that way two.
Congratulations, you win at life!
Just kidding, if that post is any indication of your people skills, I doubt you actually spend much time communicating with others.

Well I've also seen many promises made by our IT division that were never implemented or were done poorly. It doesn't mean I hate them.
:)
It seems most of the animosity is towards the marketing group.. and I think we all agree the marketing group is a pain in the ass
Ouch, -1 Troll, the truth hurts.

(I'm not a Clinton fan, btw)

Thanks... now you and everyone who read your post owes royalties to the RIAA... :(
Return on Investment

I, for one, welcome our new Microsoft 2.0 overlords.

It's all fun and games until someone takes an 'i' to eye.
