That's interesting, they compare the popularity of thepiratebay.org (21st in Sweden by Alexa), with CNN.com (125th in Sweden, Alexa). Color me surprised: a swedish site is more popular in sweden than an american site.
True, when you copy a song, you're copying, not stealing.
But the market for it has a value, and you're stealing its market.
== theft
That is, it doesn't really matter what you personally may or may not do, but a whole lot of people downloading are inevitably nibbling away at the market, so someone is definitely stealing.
Perhaps you don't realise it, but there's a good reason why it's always recommended to have good lighting in the room when using a TV or monitor. This is so that the ambient lighting has the same luminosity as the screen, effectively turning this fluorescent assault of yours into the exact same relative brightness as that off-white book of yours.
If you really have to sit in a dark room, then you should know how to turn the brightness down accordingly, also a recommended thing to do. The assault happens because of difference in brightness compared to your surroundings, not because of some arbitrary color on the screen.
No no, the students who only sleep for 2 hours don't play video games, but the students who are under pressure to perform similarly (but can't) might want to escape somewhere else.
Nice, it seems to work. Unfortunately the interface is pretty horrid, at least on Windows. I can't zoom in more than 50%, and even then the window blows up the entire image all the way outside the screen borders, instead of panning the image. Overall a bit primitive, but workable, if need be.
Speaking of camera support, CS2/Adobe Camera Raw and the DNG converter support the S5200/S5600 since version 3.3 (now at 3.4).
Meh, bullshit. It is hard, just maybe not for you. In my opinion, awareness about this issue should be raised more. I try to move around myself, but sometimes I forget, and after hours of work I start getting stiff, some muscle starts twitching, or I get more tired that I should be. Taking a break every 45 minutes should become an ingrained part of all our daily computer usage, to the point of being automatic.
To find out why gamers are dying one must ask: "What are they running from?"
If it's South Korea we're talking about, I'll throw a wild one: pressure to get a good education.
When some students sleep for 2-3 hours per day, it's a fair guess that things are getting a bit too competitive, thus giving a need for an outlet. The article goes on this line as well, and also mentions the still socially conservative culture.
Ok, that's a good board, and shows rather clearly what's going on. There's talk about seeing "them" everywhere, a question whether there were chemtrails in the sky when someone got "them", and more. Sensory hallucinations or delusions seem most plausible. I won't say that they are total whackjobs however, since they probably really have these sensations, and they don't feel like they're creating them themselves.
With my medical uneducation, I'd say the problem is that if there's a disconnect between you doing something, and your sensation of you actually doing it, you'll feel like it's "something else". Twitchings, odd movement, itching, crawling sensations over skin.. these are no match for our brain to produce, there are even stranger things that can come out of sensory input errors & imagination.
And before anyone takes people too seriously on those threads, have a read through this one. I managed about 9 posts before it became too ridiculous for even me to handle.
Burning library of congress is a measurement of energy, or fuel used to get there in your Volkswagen bug. Is there any empirical evidence for the size of this unit?
How do you scan a 4x5 negative, is there some adapter for it?
Anyway, you can do some trickery to achieve higher detail, sort of, by using noise reduction and some intelligent sharpening. I use Neat image and Focus magic, but there are others. Then, if you can shoot RAW, you can upsample to e.g. a 12-mp image, and remove the slight blurriness with Focus magic. In reality you won't get any more detail than was possible to record on an 8-mp sensor, but it will look like you do, because of slight blur in the original from the lens, noise, etc.
I haven't printed such an image yet though, so the actual effect remains to be tested.
Dude, Nintendo isn't the only company affected by inflation. If they're forced to raise the price, so will others. Besides, inflation isn't usually what I think of with electronics. More the opposite, that they get really cheap, really quick.
I thought the terrorists in C&C Generals were kinda fun, since they were like caricatures. Especially the line "AK-47's.. for evvvryone!!", when you upgrade the angry mob. Basically it's just some good ol' senseless violence, not deliberate and evil violence.
On the other hand, I'm not american, so perhaps it just doesn't concern me that much.
What I do find somewhat uncomfortable is that you're always the "good guys" in America's Army, the enemy is always the terrorists no matter which side you're on.
Also interesting, looking at the adjusted prices for Nintendo systems, they are in a steady decline, going from $364 for the NES to $225 for the Gamecube. Or even better, looking at the remarkable curve for absolute prices: $200 (NES), $200 (SNES), $200 (N64) and lastly, $200 (GC).
I have a gut feeling what the price for the Wii will be.

You now hold the record for most +1 Funny in the least amount of consciousness stream.

No, it's even more obvious than that: 'Breasts' control the internet.
Deckard. Rick Deckard.

But can GIMP handle raw or DNG files? If not, it's instantly less useful for me.
Indeed, I was under the impression that it'd be released in late June, but this is great news.

Prove F.
Apparently Americans are born, live, and die with their boots on.
It's daylight, and I'm just about to have lunch. Thanks a lot! :)

DVD ISOs? I think you're not talking about what Microsoft will provide here.

I do know, and I don't find it surprising at all. It just makes me slap my forehead with a groan, it seems so very propaganda-ish.
