Same here, no issues... Except for the 'download flash player plugin' thingy that kept failing. But crashes? No.
I've done several upgrades of Phoenix, Firebird and now Firefox on different machines, and I have grown accustomed to letting the new version create a new profile and then copy the stuff you still want back into it. I normally delete "C:\Docs and Settings\MYNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox", then copy the old bookmarks.html into my profile again.
Did so with PR1 -> 1.0, and have had no issues on several machines.
I, as a guy working at a large company, dealing with software packaging and software distribution, welcome EVERY PROJECT using WiX.
Apache already does release an MSI format package, maybe they, too, could convert to WiX.
And then, there's only PHP left, that should come in an MSI file, and all would be fine.
OSS programmers should realize how important the installation package is. Because with an intelligent enough package (MSIs for Win32, debs for Debian etc), it's no longer simply copying and possibly files, but real Software Management. This is going to open doors to the large companies.
And yes, I know, MSI is a Microsoft idea, but it does make sense. Any large customer nowadays wants all the software to be re-packaged in MSI format (hell, repackaging Oracle Client sucks, you can believe me!).
This is modded as funny, but should actually be insightful or interesting, as there certainly is more to the sentence.
Although most psychos or school-shooters had contact with bloody computergames, it doesn't mean that every computer gamer is a psycho (also applies to terrorism and islam).
I think that the more people play games, the less they are likely to go out and actually kill somebody. Not that I'd ever wanted to really kill anybody, but after a hard-working day, nothing can calm me down better than a nice little round of my favourite FPS (and drugs, of course).
HP do that for us. Not only are they sponsoring various Jabber-related projects, but they also use Jabber for internal IM. I can reach any HP employee using the internal Jabber system (Yes, I work at HP).
That's right. It's so the other way round that this woman can become a 'Family First Party Leader'. She doesn't look like anybody would want to have a family with her, and she sure doesn't look like she'll ever enjoy a party!
I had to download 3 extensions to make FF work like IE and to get the tabbed browsing working "as advertised", plus hit about:config once.
Why don't you just tell us what these three extensions were for? I mean hell, how do you think the thing is going to improve if all you say is "it sucks". I really think this version of Firefox is somewhat complete and far superior than IE in its default state.
And what about the tabbed browsing? Everything works like expected to me.
then build a "consumer" download
What a brilliant idea. There should also be a Google for the intelligent and one for the stupid masses. And there should also be a 2.6.x kernel for people who know what thei're doing and one for those who don't. No, this is really a bad idea. There should always be one product, which needs to be compatible with every type of user. Firefox is doing this in a great way!
When working with a Nouse, consider taking a break of 15 minutes every hour or you might experience Nousea that will prevent further work for the next 24 hours.
It's true. Okay, I have to admit I know one or two things about Linux, but the installation walkthrough should be walkthroughable by everyone. Still, I think that there should be something like the Debian Installer for Gentoo... Not everyone has the time to go through the whole thing over and over again (I mean multiple systems, not multiple installations on one computer).
The note, obtained by internetnews.com, said Microsoft's September batch of patches will plug a serious vulnerability in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office,
Microsoft Home, Microsoft Visual Studio, and Microsoft.NET Framework.
I really wonder which corporation administers Microsoft Home. Heck, I wonder what Microsoft Home is!
I am not dreaming. I have, among other customers, a 6000+ users company that decided to disallow Internet access thru their proxies using IE. So we rolled-out Firefox to everyone, which is the only allowed browser.
IE for the ActiveX requiring intranet-webapps, Firefox for the Internet.
Although you may not be able to read this, I still want to shout out a huge thank you.
THANK YOU!
People like you help me argument against the beady-eyed managers that a computer-monoculture is bad for business.
How else could I easily bring Linux or Firefox on Windows to our enterprise customers? And hey, what people know from the office, they will also use at home.
Not to say that you help the OSS community, but you do.

Finally, we have found a slashdotter who doesn't know how to spell Internet.

Where is Cannuckistan and what the hell is that "theatre" you speak of?

Now the Mafia have finally got another reason to cut your fingers off! And they can shoot you before you talk, as you don't have to talk.
that would be a japanese university server. you must be american.
I, for one, do not welcome our new cold-mountain-air-overlord.
PS: Yes, I am from Switzerland.

Yeah, I have a suggestion. Cover a string that goes to the ground and a guy who holds it und looks straight into the camera!
yeah, maybe a robot sysadmin wouldn't mess things up the way you do!

Call me stupid but I really don't get that one. Looping thru analog cables outside of the computer makes music sound better? I guess not!
Could anyone who is gifted with the knowledge of japanese please tell me how much battery life it has?
PS: No, I am not an HP employee.
Don't DoS them, or nobody finds out why not to vote for them.
Worst movie ever. True.
They are trying to buy Novell, who own SuSE. They probably want YaST on Solaris! Yuck!
Funny, I was going to correct you on the spelling of "ad nauseam", but thought I'd check with Google first.
I shouldn't have done it, because now I know that your spelling is about 8900 webpages more popular than mine.
Realizing that something wrong becomes right again is teh sux0r!

And by the way, everyone's got cygwin and jEdit.
