Your Single Player game is a complete afterthought to me. Something I do when I'm bored and the internet is out and it's raining outside, so I can't go play street hockey.

And herein lies the problem - some of us LIKE single player games with a good story. Beyond that, not everyone's got the connection needed for gaming to work well online, and enjoyment from multiplayer dies as soon as people move on to the next shiny new game.

Considering the reaction to the PS3 thus far, I don't think it's safe to make ANY predictions about the PS4. There will almost definitely be one, yes, but who knows what Sony will have to do to make it successful?

Actually, scratch that - it's an idiotic idea. No longevity once Sony moves on to a new console, no physical ownership, no used games market to help make the hobby more affordable...and there's that fact that broadband still isn't widespread enough or fast enough to support the massive game downloads that this generation of consoles, let alone the next one, is going to demand.

Something tells me that, if Sony eliminates the disc drive, it'll be an even bigger blunder than anything they've done to date.

Does that mean it'll be on the Wii's download service as well? The fit would make sense, considering the majority of titles in the series have been on Nintendo consoles, and because of the Sega and TurboGrafx 16 deals, the fact that this title hasn't been on a Nintendo system before shouldn't be an issue.

The game had its faults (what doesn't?) and was on the shorter side, but for the $7 it cost me to get the PS2 version from Toys R Us? It was worth every penny, without a doubt.

I'd be willing to bet that the majority of people here who have played it didn't spend $40-$50 to do so. I'd have felt let down if I had, yes, but it dropped in price so quickly after release that I didn't have to. As things stand now, the game offers an amazing experience for the cost of a movie ticket...and is probably more enjoyable, considering how much crap is released into theaters.

But when you've got a title like Sam and Max, that was close to 90% done with years of anticipation behind it...well, you lose faith. I'm not sure what it'll take to revive the genre, but we haven't hit on it yet. But on the other hand...the Wii's controller is definitely suited towards a point and click interface. ;)

    Maybe you're just missing them?

There's a lot of good material out there if you're willing to look for it. Since you mentioned shows, let's use TV as an example. It's easy to stumble upon shows like According to Jim, Hope and Faith, The King of Queens, or Joey (which has been cancelled, thank god) and assume that the sitcom has been left to die a slow and painful death.

If you stop looking there, though, then you miss some of the gems that are out there. Arrested Development never seemed to get the push from Fox that other, lesser shows get even before they win the network multiple Emmys. The Office, up until Steve Carell hit it big with The 40 Year Old Virgin, was mostly ignored. Scrubs, which has been getting critical raves and the occasional award nomination for years, isn't even on the fall schedule.

Anyway, the point I was trying to make with the genre of TV sitcom? You might not be hearing about the best material out there because it's not being pushed because of a lack of sex jokes, explosions, or star power.

There are smart, well-written TV shows and movies out there. You're either not looking for them or looking in the wrong places.
