I have been very happy with Commview, its an extremely easy to use network sniffer.
You can get a free demo which lets you analyze 50% of incoming packets from www.tamos.com...
Actually u can see 100% of the packets, just not the raw hex data for half of them. this doenst matter thou since the program displays a user-readable summary for each packet in another window and this is not limited at all.
u can turn off the windows media player 'phone home' thing in the settings, i think its the check box that says "start in media guide" or something.
Also i think it would be virtually impossible to extract IE from windows XP since the file navigation and windows themselves are all basically the same thing. The best they could do is remove the default MSN messenger client that comes in XP.
Dont get me wrong i hate wmp as well, i always use mplayer2.exe, its much faster and but it annoys me greatly that unless you know how to mess with the registry wmp always sets itself to be the default media player whenever u open a media file.
I think the point is that DARPA produces whatever is good for DARPA and if the result has applications to the commercial world then thats fine but its not the main consideration from the outset.
Especially since they are concerned more with a mobile Ad-Hoc network kind of scenario where global connectivity is not the highest priority, or can be easily provided by one or two static IPv4 enabled gateway nodes (e.g. situated on navy ships, or satellites) that are integrated with whatever new network they come up with.
did anyone notice that the guy in the background on the picture of woz and steve jobs at woz.org is the same guy from that bogus 9/11 tourist photo that went around the net for a while?!!!!!!
I've had my acer c110 for quite a while now and no major problems apart from what you would expect from any XP installation. It was hard to install debian at first though since the cd-rom is firewire with some strange drivers (which means you can boot the install CD, but not go any further than that) so i had to do network install (which was ALSO difficult since the network card wasnt being detected!).
I love the small size and having a pen is great for being able to navigate many windows quickly when coding in multiple files etc.
However, i strongly agree with the parents point about the screen being very dim (not to mention reflective!). Even if you are inside, if you sit beside a window on a sunny day you will be constantly adjusting the screen angle to try and avoid the reflections from outside.
'Peking' sounds roughly like 'Beijing' when pronounced in the cantonese dialect so i can only surmise that when the first romanised maps of china were produced the chinese traslator was from canton.
I dont think the bar association would put their stamp on this, im pretty sure you need some kind of legal authorization to practise law right? like medicine i guess.
Of course you could get advice from an oversease schooled lawyer, but i dont think they would have to power to actually act as your attorney in the US legal system.
I think this is a natural evolutionary step that will occur if and when the big file-sharing networks go down. It probably treads the middle ground between two extremes, i.e. at least one person in your community needs to have access to a certain cd, game or movie, which would likely mean buying it.
And i think its pretty much the same as we did in the old days, e.g. borrowing CDs from friends and dubbing them to a cassette (remember those?).
Yay, finally some proper java support for IPv6 in windows. Im not an IPv6 zeaolot or anything but its great to be able to write (careful) java.net code using generic InetAddresses and be pretty sure that it will work regardless of which version of IP your network is using.
no need to learn the language to survive yes, but if you are really planning to re-locate anywhere for more than a year it can be an isolating experience not knowing the local language.
This is exactly what my opinion has always been, wouldnt it be so much easier if they just legalised everything, made it only available from pharmacies (so the quality could be regulated) and put a BIG sticker on it saying something to the effect of "take this and it will KILL you". I think if high schools actually provided some education on the actual effects (both good and bad) of so-called illicit drugs on a persons body rather than just shouting "JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS" any time the issue is raised then there would be less of a problem. Take away the mystique and illicit nature of drugs and they loose their appeal pretty quickly once people are able to weigh up the pros and cons for themselves.
Yes but u forget to mention the before tax salary is quite a bit higher than countries with lower tax rates, or that the astronomical tax rates make sweden one of the nicest places to live in the world...despite the perpetual darkness.
In Shanghai at the moment, funnily enough my first couple of tries to access this discussion topic came up as HTTP500 errors ..spooky =O
This lady used to be my maths tutor in 1st year university... =)
...hope you mean 'Malaysia', thats not even close to being a mere typo honey.
Excuse me....Russians are Russians, not Europeans.

not that i think ur post was made in seriousness, but its not like the ability to use CD-burners and key-generators hasnt traversed the atlantic.
mmm, coz we all know that executables function really well in the absence of any OS to excute them =p
the prob is most ppl dont really care wether they get media player X or media player Y given they both do the same thing (by definition...).

Are you seriously suggesting that google is likely to be slashdotted? =P

I think is due to confused double meaning of the word 'hacker' as used in the article.

I'm sure they can do that in US as well, but it involves certain risk(human rights, privacy issues, etc. etc.)
You are of course aware that Australia is not a central African republic, right?

u "don't need broadband"? what on earth are you doing here...?
haha, depends which map ur using. in aus we have politically correct maps with the southern hemisphere at the top =)
