Apple choosing Intel over AMD is probably based off Intel's large production capability. They can produce more chips faster than AMD. IBM was really hurting Apple with the poor yeilds on the G5 chips.
Yes it does. Your mom should have taken the crayon out of your left hand when you were a kid and put it in the right one. It would have saved you years of grief.
Its very expensive, but most colleges do have licenses. It can do pretty much anything and is widely used in the technical community, both acedemic and proffesional.
As someone else pointed out in this thread, the US HAS ADMITTED FAULT with some of their troops and operations. One soldier is on trial right now for murdering Iraqis.
Accidents happen. They are investigated and conclusions are made. Most times the soldiers act appropriately. Some times they make mistakes, but their actions are in line with their training, so they are not at fault. Very rarely, soldiers intentionally do something wrong.
This incident is not the soldiers fault.
The Italians obviously handled this kidnapping situation on their own, with no coordination from the US. Then they return and do not heed warnings heading to a check point that has been suicide bombed before. What are those soldiers supposed to do??? Stick their head in every car that doesn't heed warnings and see if it blows up???
Really??? How do you think most policers die in the line of duty in the "civilized" US of A? They are shot while making routine traffic stops. Routine traffic stops are the most dangerous and tense moments of thier job.
that is exactly why google will fork firefox. why put in an ad serving extension that can be removed when you can just hard code it in and call it a "feature".
google is definately walking down the path to the dark side....
I think sales of new HDTVs are going at 4-6 million sets per year now. Those numbers will only get better.
People with HDTVs are just looking for anything to really take advantage of that extra resolution. You can only watch so many nature and travel specials in HD.
I wouldn't be surprised if places like Best Buy and Circuit City start giving away new xbox's with a purchase of an HDTV. Most of them do something similar to that now.
Even asking them *not* to do something is disruptive to their business chain. That's why they don't do it. It's not like they don't want the extra business, small as it might be. It would simply cost them more to cater to you.
I really wish more people would understand this concept.
xpdf renders text like dog vommit. Hell, even acroread renders stuff like dog vommit. I create lots of pdf's of plots, data, etc. and they look like crap unless I open them on the Windows side with Acrobat. sad but true...
HD PVRs are really where the cable companies are taking off in the Tivo-like arena. Tivo and Satellite TV companies can't compete with my Time Warner Cable HD PVR capability at $10 a month, including the service and hardware.
The SA8300-HD PVR is really quite good. And it has an HDMI output to boot.
Windows 98 was a long time ago. Windows XP does not
get slower with more applications installed. It does not act "wierd" after a while. Its all about the user and what they install on their machines regardless of the OS.
I am talking about new HDTV's and new, mid range and above dvd players. The pc market is definately DVI, probably because NVidia and ATi do not want to try and support pumping sound through thier already complicated cards. Also, HDMI does not support analog video. I think...
DVI from PC's is DVI-I, which has analog and well as digital pin outs. That is why you can just put a DVI to VGA adaptor on it. TV's and such are usually DVI-D, which only has pin outs for digtal.
So going from HDMI to DVI is ok as long as your DVI is digital. HDMI to VGA will not work. I think...
Because component cables are analog video only and HDMI is digital video and audio combined. HDMI video is exaclty compatable with DVI.
You can put an HDMI to DVI adapter on the HDMI cable coming from your dvd player and plug it into a DVI tv. You just lose the bundled digital audio that way.
So HDMI is nice because the cable is much thinner than DVI and combines digital audio and video into a single cable.
The DRM aspect of HDMI is not nice, but talk to the FCC about that one. They are making manufactures implement it, not the other way around.
Almost all NEW consumer electronics have dumped DVI in favor of HDMI. Cable boxes, tv's, dvd players, etc. DVI is going away very quickly, except in the PC component market.
Yeah, but multi-core processors haven't been on AMD's and Intel's roadmap before. They are now and a real hard look into concurrency will be required to get the increases in performance that multi-core archetecture brings.
RTFA. Consumer PC's are not getting faster anymore.
You improve the design as much as you can up to a certain point. You could design new winshields to withstand impacts from concrete bricks or you could just make sure the shuttle doesn't fly through bricks.
I know that sounds extremely oversimplified, but over and over and over again decisions and compromises must be made between capability and the expected environement. If you don't, the vehicle will never get off the ground.

Shrek 2. My copy of Shrek 2 has a 8 minute intro for Madagascar. It cannot be skipped.
if only i had mod points. that is the funniest post i have read here all day.
iTunes sucking is the reason why this plugin is getting all the attention that it is getting.
Yes it does. Your mom should have taken the crayon out of your left hand when you were a kid and put it in the right one. It would have saved you years of grief.
No way is my kid going to be left handed.
I guess it is just one more reason why infinite copyright is a really bad idea. Cartoons like those should be entering the public domain by now.

And how exactly did our friend George W. Bush get elected?
There are always exceptions to everything. Obese people are going to have more health problems than non obese people.

why not just get the Samsung i700?

I can't see them going to HDMI and time soon though. They lose the ability to support VGA easily.
