However, in my experience as a sales rep in the gaming section of Best Buy, there are quite a few people who do buy the PS3 purely for the Blu-Ray capacity.
Hell, my dad has a PS3 and I don't. I game and he does.
Purely anecdotal, of course, but I don't think I'm seeing the only cases of Blu-Ray selling the system.
It is also interesting that I've read other reports of people who have been looking for a 20gig version and unable to find them. So there seems to be demand for the 20gig that wasn't being met. The excuse that stores weren't ordering them seems a bit odd.
I work for Best Buy. It wasn't a matter of us not ordering them, it was a matter of them not offering them in the first place. We had requests all the time for the 20GB model.
Actually not true. I work at Best Buy and we've never received a 20GB system aside from the original launch shipment (which was something like 8 20GB models and 50 60GB models). In fact our inventory system has listed them as discontinued for over a month. My supervisor told me back in January that Sony had no intention of shipping 20s until they were totally caught up on 60s.
As a BBY employee (sales rep), I'm very interested in people's experiences at other stores, as it sounds like the BBYs in my city are run very differently than those around the country. For example, we NEVER trick a customer into buying a product, just because if not for an ethical reason, nearly everything can be returned if they don't like it, and that means we're worse off than we started.
The one thing to consider about ignorant salespeople is that often they are helping out in other depts. other than their own, and no one could be expected to know the details on every product in that store. Worst thing ever is when customers are upset because our 3 camera salespeople are busy and I tell them that I don't know a single thing about digital cameras aside from "more megapixels are good".
Again though, I'm just intrigued by people's experiences.
Seriously, what is his option? Defy the GM and be terminated (willfully or not)? One of the first rules of customer service is when someone yells at you, they're actually yelling at your company, not at you. Any customer who doesn't realize the employee has no choice is ignorant.
I've got to say, unless you're talking about Insignia, React, or Dynex brand items I don't know how you could blame Best Buy for a computer or peripheral breaking, since they're the exact same ones you'd be buying anywhere else.
That's weird, wouldn't have happened in my store. From everything I've seen here on this thread it looks like a lot of Best Buys are run a lot different than the store I work at. (Disclaimer: I'm a Best Buy sales rep)
My girlfriend's laptop has better hardware support in Linux than it does in Windows. For whatever reason, her laptop quit charging it's battery a few months ago. I chalked this up to a bad mother board, and assumed it was irreparable. Last weekend, she decided she wanted to try out this "Linux" thing I've been raving about, and we were stunned to see the battery start charging when we booted up the Live CD. Now she's a happy Linux user too.
I call bullshit. How could the OS possibly relate to the charging of the battery? In any laptop I've ever seen the battery will charge with the laptop powered off, so it obviously ignores what OS is sitting on the hard drive. If for some reason she has some freak of a laptop that requires the OS for battery charging, I wouldn't be blaming Windows if that shit doesn't work.

Is Vista a Trap?

Last I checked HD-DVDs and BluRay won't even play in XP, so how does Vista's limited capability to play them factor in?
Sounds like your argument should be in an HD-DVD thread, not a Vista thread.
I haven't played Halo lately, but I really did enjoy it a whole lot when it came out and again with Halo 2. Thing is, I've been playing shooters a long time. I played Counter-strike since beta 4, Battlefield 1942, etc. I think it's the split screen. It's really nice to be able to get together with some friends and a couple xboxes and jump online and find another team to fight. With Halo 1 we always had LANs with 10 or so players, and I think it was just really nice to be able to get all your friends together playing a game without each one needing their own rig etc.
I work for Best Buy, we move tons of 360s, but we have probably 2-300 on hand. Every single day we get more in. I'm told Microsoft has guaranteed we'll be in stock throughout the holiday.
That isn't starting until Spring of 07? Unless people are getting gold accounts now just to sign up for it early, I don't think it would really affect anything yet...
Firstly, 2142 is a sequel, not expansion to BF2. Not a huge deal, but the fact that it is standalone is a difference to me.
Second, how can you say that EA just rehashes everything and then in the same post bitch that they changed Command and Conquer into a completely different game?
Also, I don't know if you ever played Starcraft online, but Battle.net is loaded with advertisements.
There are plenty of reasons to hate EA, it's hardly necessary to have invalid ones.
Man do I wish cops were like that here. I got busted doing 90 in a 45 on my GSXR (interstate at 2 AM) and got the full 12 points (which means automatic license loss here) as well as suspended 30 day jail sentence, depending on me not getting another ticket for a year.
I work at a Best Buy, and what I'm told from up on high is that we purchased the initial run of PS3s for a little over $800 each. That implies (though doesn't prove) that they are sold at a loss.
You know I've been playing PC shooters for quite a while (Marathon way back when, Half-Life when it launched, Counter-Strike Beta 4 etc) and I still think Halo had some of the best deathmatch and CTF I've played. Also, the co-op is really unmatched these days (Gears of War is the only other shooter I can think of in recent history with built in coop). Sure it's not the end all be all of shooters, but it's a lot of fun.
Of course I must have no taste since PC shooters are obviously better in these areas, right?

Turnitin provides the option not to have it included.
RTFA
It was submitted to Turnitin with instructions that it not be archived, but it was, the lawsuit says.
As a full time student working part time at Best Buy, TVs are pretty large margin (a $2500 TV is ~500 margin)

I think he was mocking the OP's excessive use of the term "rock solid"...
Wow, this is one of the best posts I've read in a while.
Just so you know, the xbox 360 feedback system has an option in-place for reporting people who leave the game early.

Okay seriously, what games? I can't remember the last time I had issues getting a game to run on Windows.
Three times more powerful?
Care to state a source? How does a statement like that get modded up?
As someone stated, working as intended.

No, it is like getting a $500 console with a $130 PS2 free. What you said implies spending $370 total to get both items.
That isn't starting until Spring of 07? Unless people are getting gold accounts now just to sign up for it early, I don't think it would really affect anything yet...

Ah the classic misconception. Voltage doesn't affect kill-power, current does. If we were talking amps or say watts, then it would be unnerving.
