How long can this go on? What kind of justice system do we have if a company is allowed to make false claims and interfere with the on goings of other businesses? I thought these morons had to prove that there was wrongdoing. I'm not a lawyer or anything but isn't SCO in a shit load of trouble if their claims are proven false? Isn't this kinda thing criminal? Like conspiracy to commit fraud or something? I mean come on, this is a bunch of BS. Bunch of rambling but can someone explain how something like this can be legal?
That's why I like computers better when they don't act the way you want them to you have a variety of options my fav is to just turn the sucker of or format over windows and install Linux, if Linux is already installed see option 1. The human mind is rather intriguing to me, maybe I should have taken some psychology classes in collage, blast them comsci classes why did assembly have to be so much more interesting. If you happen to come up with an answer to this question you may have found the key to solving lots of man, or the PC term peoples problems. (That's politically correct not personal computer.) I not sure if this rant has a point so Ill end. BTW good orig post.
Money, thats why people dont stop there illegal actions. Its like gambaling, oh I just won $50 but if I put it all back in I get $500. That kinda pay off clouds peoples judgement, most of the time the fact that they may end up losing everything doesnt even enter into their minds. We live in a society where every one wants to get rich easily and dont wana work for the money. The reality is the easier the money is to come by the quicker your going to lose it, well at least most of the time. I guess thats my 2 cents.

Two Men Accused In Illegal Cable Piracy Scam
Police Say Suspects Offered Free Television For The One-time Price Of A 200 Dollar Chip

December 17, 2003
SACRAMENTO -- It was installation day for residents at a new apartment complex in North Natomas.
But for every legitimate cable customer who signs up, Comcast officials say there are plenty of people ripping off programming with illegal descramblers called black boxes.
Assistant US Attorney Robert Tice- Raskin says, "The disclaimer were really nothing more than a wink and a nod by these conspirators to members of the public."
At a news conference this afternoon, federal prosecutors announced they'd arrested two people who are accused of selling descramblers throughout the state and the country.
Over the past five and a half years, they're accused of masterminding a money laundering scheme that's earned them more than 10-million dollars.
US Attorney McGregor Scott says, "The dollar amounts that are involved really make this stand out -- it really is a unique and distinct set of circumstances."
Officials say the descramblers were advertised on the internet and in magazines with a disclaimer that the boxes were not against the law to own.
Nevertheless, police say customers who purchased them are now at risk of being arrested.
Sacramento County Sheriff Lou Blanas says, "Common sense dictates if you have a black box, you're violating the law, disclaimer or no disclaimer. I mean if that was the case, everybody would have access to these movies!"
Cable Customer Gwenice Garnett says, "I'm not going to squeal on 'em, but I do know people who have them."
Gwenice Garnett was happy to hear about the bust as she stopped by Comcast this evening to upgrade to digital cable.
She's paying 70-bucks a month.
Garnette says, "I pay a substantial amount of money for my cable and if I have to pay, they should have to pay!"
Thank you Santa, I mean Linus, this is the best Christmas present ever. God bless everyone, except Billy boy gates I hear he hasnt been that good this year.
Its interesting where I go to school lots of people are only intersted in useing Microsoft products. Because they believe thats all that used so its the only thing worth using. Some people even get very upset that they have to use a term on a unix box to learn how to program and think that the Linux lab is a complete waste of time and space. I happen to tell then that Microsoft probably only has the majority share of users in the US. There are other countries where users dont have money to spend on an OS. I for on think that all governments should use Open Source software because gov's are for the people Y should they not use an os written by the people they protect. I see this as a good thing and hopefully someday the US will wake up and see the light. Now this post makes me seem like I am saying windows sucks and Linux/BSD rocks, well maybe it is. I believe in using the app the does the best job. Ok if you read this and like it good if not sorry about the rant.:)
You use the internet to hit the webserver which is a machine that is on both the internet and the private network. The web server has scripts that allow it to run some WOL script to wake the machine and then checks every now and then to see if the machine is started and the vnc server is running, now that you have the machine running be sure it is configured to run the java vnc server so all you have to do is connect to the vnc server machine with a web browser, not sure how to do this but im guessing there is a way to do it with some sort of url hacking. And as for shutting the machines off when you done, use vnc to turn them off, that always works for me.
Hope that all makes sence to you because it does in my head.
So is this just for fun or is there some sort of practical use for super cooling your proc. I mean its cool and all but really who could actually afford to use a system like this in real life. I mean you cant be telling me that the amount of cycles gained by super cooling the proc can offset the amount spent to keep the proc cool. I didn't get to finish the article cuz it took about 2.3 seconds to/. the site, good work on that by the way. All I am asking is can someone explain the practical use for all this is there is one.
Great so I can loose this sucker just like I keep loosing that tiny cell phone I had to buy. Or better yet they will prob combine the two and make the worlds smallest cell with a HD. So then I can loose both at the same time. How small do we need things, really. I thought women always say "size matters!" if so the geeks are going in the wrong direction.
I was thinking about nominating this guy for a Darwin award, but then I figured maybe we should keep him around. His kids could be very helpful to the future, I mean after all someone needs to say "Would you like fries with that?"
I use XFS on serveral different servers, mainly because I belive it performs better then ext3, or any other fs. Also because Alot of the servers I run are samba servers and the ACL support is built native into XFS. And last I looked ACL support was still not quite stable in ext2/3 it has been awhile so it could be stable by now.

As a sys admin I have to admit that forcing users to change their passwords in short intervals say 30 days seems to make a system very insecure. Just for the fact that I know users that pick just as bad a password as it was before or they just tape the sucker to their moniter. Can we really blame them? I have somewhere around 15 different root passwords to remember, not including all of my own user accounts. Took me years to learn to memorize them all. My mom works for a hospital she is always complaning about all the passwords she has to remember. One of the systems she logs into kicks her out if she is idle for more then 1 min, so she spends most of her time login in. I think that a lot of systems are getting over secure. Is there parinoia justified, dont really have a clue the current system seems to work and users seem not to mind it all that much, at least they dont complane. We are currently looking into a way of combining many systems with like a single sign on type system so users only have one password and have to change it more often. Ok back on track people are just not used to picking uniq and complicated passwords every month. Hopfully biometrics scanners can fix this for us. It would be really nice to not have to remeber all those passwords and just have to put my thumb of eye up to a little scanner.
Ok so maybe this was just a long rant, ill let you be the judge.

What about the poptop project at http://www.poptop.org/. There is also a really good client package at for pptp servers at http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/ I use both and they seem to be much better then vtun and cipe.
Now if we could just get them to put Firefly back on the air. :)
Their servers dont look like there /. Compatible. I wonder if thats in their database?
Yes but can fedex or UPS deliver it for Valentines day, any geek could get laid with one of these.

Set it up like this
internet -> Webserver -> priv network -> Machine

I dont think Blame Canadia will work for this one, the canadians maybe shouting Blame USA.

Yes but then all your doing is fooling yourself, and that does no one any good. It may make you feel better but others will still know.
Great so I can loose this sucker just like I keep loosing that tiny cell phone I had to buy. Or better yet they will prob combine the two and make the worlds smallest cell with a HD. ok this is completly in bad tast but maybe the guy you replied to is from france.
I was thinking about nominating this guy for a Darwin award, but then I figured maybe we should keep him around. His kids could be very helpful to the future, I mean after all someone needs to say "Would you like fries with that?"
Let the US do it. Just make sure the sell is from the closest 7-11 in the US then give him a gas can and tell him to walk his ass there and get it.
I use XFS on serveral different servers, mainly because I belive it performs better then ext3, or any other fs. Yes but only if we are asking the right question.

"England and America are two countries separated by the Atlantic Ocean"
Linux so customizable you can even change the language used to describe it.
