Although I never assume anyone will believe this, I'll weigh in.
Twice I've awoken from dream segments that had that "deja vu" quality, and I remembered them. Later, when they occurred in waking life, the events were unmistakably identical. Deja vu.
I have a theory about how it happens: past, present, and future all exist, and there is a part of existence (the oneness of all being) which is not dimensionally bound; it's that part of our own being that we use to get glimpses of the future (and also the past, but given our time vector that's not remarkable).
I thought this was common knowledge, so I was therefore unsurprised that when I lost function to brain damage years ago I was able to recover much of the function before the damage got cleared away and replaced with new brain tissue. Of course, the last part was the most surprising to me...
Is the 6200 lines per year figure accurate? It seems WAY low. Even with code reviews, head scratching and naps. No wonder I was run out of the last company I worked for.
Funny. I've had the opposite experience with Ubuntu. I was trying it on an iBook and needed clock settings for the Xconfig, so I figured I'd ask in the forums. Some jerk starts in about reading the X FAQ, despite the fact that the X FAQ had nothing specific to my machine and I had clearly stated my need. Luckily someone else posted their iBook2 config and I got the settings I needed.
Then I upgraded some packages and broke the system so badly I couldn't recover. (And I'm not even a n00b - just a longtime Slackware user)
Give Linux a try and you will never be disapointed!!
Well, I'm disappointed with linux almost daily, but I still keep using it. Of course, its irritations are nowhere near as bad as WindowsXP, which seems to have been designed specifically to irritate the power user.
I've got one better. Wait until computers can house the awarenesses (sp?) of millions of people and send it into deep space to thrive on minimal solar radiation. It's Matrix-like, sure, but it would be controlled by the individuals inside it. If we sent several hundred of them beyond the star system, I'd bet at least a few would last until the galaxy had burned out and gone dark. Maybe by then they'd even figure out how to exist without solar...
You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.
I can't think of a distro that doesn't install the GTK+ libraries in the default $PATH, so if you want maximum penetration, there you go. Perhaps a win32 to gnuGTK auto-conversion tool? It could use the wine or cygwin codebase as a jumping off point maybe.
As far as install types, wouldn't it be nice to have a tool that automatically generates a variety of packages from your source? That would take some of the headache out of generating all those packages...

My Windows machine just keeps complaining over and over in a little popup that it's not connected to anything.
Ah, but hasn't the Supreme Court changed a bit since 1969?

How could I have guessed that someone would take the time to point out the misquote? Heh.
Come on over to the BSD license! :)
I counsel all newcomers to avoid anything Microsoft specific.
The real asteroid/comet threat is that we can't possibly track everything that could hit us. If we're tracking it, I don't consider it a problem.
Clearly, what we have here is a person utterly dedicated to sarcasm.
Shouldn't they use names from cultures that will make the majority of the parts? How about Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Hanuman? Or Mao, Zhao, and Jiang. :)

Yeah... I say politically correct things about my former employer too.

I went into a monastic life. I got rid of my wife, house, debt, and hope.
Is this the war Rumsfeld wanted?
Do you suppose they'll have a linux client available?
I'd like never to see another Ohio 2004 in my lifetime.
But it would be so much funnier if he turned out to be right. :)
Hello, neighbor! You must live near the guy in unit 203, too, eh?
Then there is the folks who feel that writing software for windows should earn them money no matter what.
Well, I for one won't touch Windows without getting paid.
The problem is that unless you encase your whole head, the stuff that comes in through your face gets reflected around your brain a few times.
