Case in point -- my girlfriend digs video games. Watch her play Final Fantasy X or something similar on the PS2, and you'll seldom see her smiling...she's more focused on making sure her characters are levelling up, finding shit, etc. With a game on a Nintendo system, you see a lot more grinning, hear more smack-talking, and generally get the impression that the experience is more rewarding than gaming on the PS2.
Of course your girlfriend isn't smack talking on Final Fantasy like games...it's single player!
For the purposes of digital SLR cameras, $1500 is not 3x the price of a camera.
Digital SLRs _start_ at $1500 and go up to $8000 for the current models.
Good lenses range from $300 to several thousand. The price of a $1500 CF card is not going to deter any professional photographer that needs the storage.
And puh-leaze -- these units DO NOT all have the same screen. PDA screens are not all created equal, by any means. Sony Clies have had better screens than HP or Compaq for years, and the current Palm screens are even better. A 320x320 screen with brilliant backlighting that lasts for several days on a single charge is a little bit better thana 320x240 screen with mediocre brightness that can barely last a day before it goes tits up.
Screen is definitely very important. The Zaurus C7xx series has a beautiful 640x480 screen.
Uh, eucalyptus trees are prone to fire. In the last big fire in the Oakland hills, CA, the eucalyptus trees exploded due to their high oil content. They are also "dirty" trees, as their litter (leaves, bark, etc) is all flammable.
The clerks at Radio Shack are perfectly happy to sell you things without your address. Just tell them politely that you'd rather not tell them your info. Saves both of you time.
the other is that huge CD-ROM collection from National Geographic that spans from 1888-2000 (or there abouts). Quite a project, to be sure, and I've always wondered myself if I'd catch hell if I ever figured out the DB structures and released the code to the OSS community.
I have the 100+ years of National Geographic on DVD-ROM, and all the pages are just.jpg files. Searching is a different matter, though.
You can get the equivalent unit at carplayer.com. It's rebranded as the CPM25, but it's the same thing, albeit cheaper.
My roommate has the player, and it works rather nicely. Some people have had problems with some hard drives which are more finicky about power in the car, so a slower spinning (less power drain) hard drive would be the best. Laptop hard drives would also be good, as they have better shock protection.
The OS is free as in free speech, not necessarily as in free of cost.

Yes.
There is a several hour 5 lock system to get through, or the rapid 1 hour ship elevator if you are a smaller ship.
It's more fun to try a lot of the things on other channels ;)
$700 for an english translated version at Dynamism
$550 for a japanese version at conics but it's really easy to change the locale to english!)
A review at the gadgeteer
Already, the erosion of AOL's dial-up base is starting to show. During the fourth quarter it lost 176,000 narrowband subscribers.
.*aol.com
Now that's a shame.
This _is_ bad. With AOL users going to different ISPs, it's going to be much harder to filter out

Read Crossroads of Twilight when the next one comes out. NOTHING happens in CoT.
Ogle does menus.
I would go broke if I had to use DVD+R media. Generic DVD+R blanks cost 2 times more than DVD-R.

rm -rf is generally dangerous.

Say you try to
rm -rf
and you accidentally type
rm -rf / var/somedir
then you are in a world of hurt.

Get a newer pine. 4.33 supports simple mail filtering.
It's simple. Just copy the cd, test it out at the Sony store and see if it blows out their speakers.
Burning rubber is independent of whether the engine is gas or electric. All you need is wheelspin from the _tires_ which makes the smoke.
I'm sure glad that Byte's linux guru runs insecure services on his server.
The only quote that sort of annoyed me was in the dream sequence...
"Tell me about the waters of your world, Maud'dib" instead of "Tell me about the waters of your world, Usul"
It's just a hard drive pull-out tray, so you can pull the unit out when you leave your car...though I suppose it would be less convenient.

How about Gore's 5 F's at Vanderbilt?
