    AI is a joke. There has been no real progress in AI since the 60s. What you see now is parlor tricks and a byproduct of Moores Law. Now that Moores Law is over, we need to find some other way to do computing. We will never have AI with digital computing.

    Yeah sorry. That article says nothing about 1 in 5. Lots of foreigners buy vacation homes in Florida. That has nothing to do with Silicon Valley.

    No. My bank is secure. They have armed guards and a vault. Plus it is insured by FDIC. Computers and networks aren't secure. Stop pretending they are.

    Computers are insecure. They run software. Software can do anything the programmers wants it to. The operating system doesn't matter either. Why do people expect computers or the Internet to be secure? They aren't.

    VR will never be useful due to human physiology. Motion sickness is what normal people experience after using VR for a period of time. Of course, not the special snowflakes here, they are immune. But normal people.

  15. I was already affected by the US Office of Personnel Management hack, because I needed clearances to get my $55k job doing government IT support in Silicon Valley. It was a small price to pay.

    Someone (maybe Asimov) said that short term technological predications were overly optimistic, and long term ones weren't optimistic enough. People who think there will be self driving cars in 5 years (or AI) are the former.
