Except for the fact that hitting anything but the hostile with a special projectile that won't (do as much) damage the aircraft and cause explosive decompression is not something normal gun owners are trained or equipped for.

Private ownership of firearms and good training is one thing, special cases like needing to use one 30,000 feet in the air is an entire other case.

My guess is the idea is so the hardware works after the fact, besides a 25 megaton blast would only be deadly to 30 or so miles, where is the EMP would be much more far reaching. So it makes sense for the military to plan for that.

Radius of destructive circle: 6.5 miles
    12 pounds per square inch

The remains of some buildings' foundations are visible. Some of the strongest buildings -- those made of reinforced, poured concrete -- are still standing. Ninety-eight percent of the population within this area are dead.

    Radius: 10.7 miles
    5 psi

Virtually everything is destroyed between the 12 and 5 psi rings. The walls of typical multi-story buildings, including apartment buildings, are completely blown out. As you move from the center toward the 5 psi ring there are more structural skeletons of buildings standing. Single-family residences within this this area have been completely blown away -- only their foundations remain. Fifty percent of the population between the 12 and 5 psi rings are dead. Forty percent are injured.

    Radius: 20 miles
    2 psi

Any single-family residences that are not completely destroyed are heavily damaged. The windows of office buildings have been blown away, as have some of their walls. The contents of these buildings' upper floors, including the people who were working there, are scattered on the street. A substantial amount of debris clutters the entire area. Five percent of the population between the 5 and 2 psi rings are dead. Forty-five percent are injured.

    Radius: 30.4 miles
    1 psi

Residences are moderately damaged. Commercial buildings have sustained minimal damage. Twenty-five percent of the population between the 2 and 1 psi rings are injured, mainly by flying glass and debris. Many others have been injured from thermal radiation -- the heat generated by the blast. The remaining seventy-five percent are unhurt.

Funny, you don't sound like someone who spent two years in-game.

If you where, in that time you would know that someone who's only been in game for a couple months can take on a 3 year vet without a problem.

EVE's game model is based on Tactics, and the lack of grinding levels.

No, you can't spend a South Park style 3 months grinding pigs in the forest to max level, but during that 3 months you can still, most of all if you get some friends during that time, take on anything and anyone, and have a chance. Unlike a level 30 Paladin vs. a 60 with Judgment gear.

  19. Re:I need to start playing more games on CCP and White Wolf Games To Merge · · Score: 2, Interesting

Yes, in fact those are in game shots. I've been playing Eve Online since launch, a little over three years, and it's always been a very good looking game. CCP has done a great job keeping interest within it's userbase, and has been growing since launch. The thing that Eve has going for it is quality of players, not quantity. They have been able to expand the server cluster (30,000 users on one server, not split up like every other game on the market).

Eve has also managed to keep the client and all upgrades free. Only fee is the monthly fee. There is an updated client for DX10 (Vista) and they vow to support DX9 clients as well.

Eve is a niche game, not a mass-market cookie cutter game. It's very harsh, a bit of a learning curve, and not for the weak of heart. It could take you a month to save for a cruiser, and ten seconds to lose it if you're not careful. It's not a matter of going to a repair shop and paying a couple gold.

You'll love it, or hate it. There is no "in the middle" :)

I've been in game since November on the Bronzebeard server (Aramova). I've had times of burn-out in WoW, as many people have. They are now starting to turn out some good end-game content, but for a very long time there was really little to do but grind the same instances over and over.

Subscriber base is going to die off shortly, and pickup other games, around the Christmas season, but when WoW2 hits, we'll have this all over again, cause Blizzard has done MMO right, and everyone knows it.

WoW at this point is the iPod of MMORPG's, something really amazing is going to be needed to unseat it.
