There is a post appointed by parliment as the chief advocate for personal privacy here in Canada. It's his or her job to get things like companies to have a mandatory privacy policy for the collection of personal information.
Macleans magazine did an article where they got HER cellphone records. All the calls she had made on not only her office Cell, but her personal Cell as well.
The only way I think this movie could be more the suck is if we read something like this between now and the release.
April 23, 2006, Paramount Pictures and it's upcoming Star Trek prequel starring Twenty-something Kirk and Spock, announces that they have decided that renowned director Uwe Boll has the vision and desire to make his movie great.
Sheesh. How badly does this suck? Let me count the ways....
So if they're transferred to Electronic format automatically? They have a machine that will open the letter, take out the application and then get it scanned in? Man, that's some robotic arm assembly.
Because you know don't you that the bird population of Upstate New York will suffer huge culls! Oh, and babies will also start speaking in tongues, and, oh, who knows, the world might end.
Yeah but that doesn't fly at EB's in Canada anymore.
IF you open the game? Tough. You're done. If it doesn't work, you bring it back for EXCHANGE only. If it's not opened okay, refund/trade-in. Otherwise tough beans.
Has the guy been charged? Issued with a bench warrant? Has the Crown issued a request to the US authorities to have the guy extradited? Newp. And they probably won't either.
In related news, the US has never tried to impose their laws on citizens of other countries in other countries.
Not that I want this stupid ass argument to start again, because it is stupid, but.
People who drive trains are Engineers, I have yet to see any of the damn ERTW blockhead start trying to sue CN/CP/Amtrack or any one like that.
~The Doc.
PS, No I'm not an MD or a PHD, but you know what? I can still call myself a doctor. As long as I don't do so in a hospital, or try to practice medicine without a license then guess what? I can do that.
I think, (note I say think, so I accept the fact that I might be wrong so don't get all smug if you point out I am,) the only occupation you can't impersonate is a police officer. I know that in Ontario, if you try to push yourself off as a "Professional Engineer" then the PEO can come in and kick your ass. But they don't own the rights to the word "Engineer" No one does.
Yeah but they're really pissy when you ask why they don't allow Canadian (or any other country) billing or shipping addresses.
In fact, I have a US shipping address, but my cards are all Canadian. That still won't fly. Ask them why and I got a 'Most fraud orders come from Foriegn orders.'
Wow, ass-hats, call AMEX, verify that the address is valid, verify the shipping address, get an auth. number and pissoff.
Absolutely! And they allow you to have a Canadian Shipping address and Billing address, Newegg doesn't. At all, no exceptions. They got downright pissy with me when I asked why too.
No, perhaps not for me to judge, but I'll tell you, it is up to me to enforce the laws and the codes of practice of the store. If the parent came in and bought it/rented it for their child, I wouldn't say boo.
Just you wait, some hapless worker at a games store will be at the business end of an Angry parent with a screaming kid who wants to buy Halo 2 with a note from mom or dad saying "Please let Billy buy this game."
I had this issue once as well. A kid wanted to rent a game, I said no. He left, called his mother who then called the store saying it was alright that he get this game (M rated game, lots of fun and violence etc.) I told her no, that wasn't acceptable. She freaks out on me till I ask her if she calls the corner store to let her son buy her smokes? Or does she call the liquor store to let her son buy her booze?
It was fun, but till the parents realize what is going on, we'll see.
And frankly, I was a pain in the ass to all the kids who wanted to rent the M rated games.
When it came down to it, I read up on not only the BBV rules, but also the rules regarding R rated movies and so on and so forth.
I would tell kids flat out that they could not rent Conkers Bad Fur Day, or some other M rated games. When they were barely high enough to see over the counter.
The argument that a kid who is old enough to work is old enough to be able to buy/rent a video game/movie is bull.
I used to love the parents that would send their kids in with a note saying that they could rent a game/movie. Even though the kid was 14 and the movie was plainly rated R, or an M rated game. I would still refuse the kids and then, when their parents came in to rant and rave? I would say to them very calmly and plainly. "Sir/Ma'am, you can not send your child to the beer store with a note to buy you beer, nor can you send one with a note to buy you smokes. As far as I'm concerned, both the law and store policy does not allow me to rent/sell this game to a minor. Should you wish to do so you are more than welcome, but I will/not/ loose my job or face possible criminal sanctions just so your child can watch a movie or game. Do you/know/ what's in these games? There is (death/dismemberment/language/furry p0rn/you name it) in this movie or game. So frankly, it is up to you."
It might have been petty? But it was all true. I could loose my job, I could face sanctions/fines for renting an r rated movie to a minor.
So, frankly? this is a good thing.
Frankly, with all the people at home who have their own rack, I'm surprised this hasn't come out earlier. I mean I know there are articles out there about how to build your own, but sheesh. Build a box, with a rack mount case and you'll have twice the power for a pittance more.
MUSH, MUX and other things like this have the same abilities. One Mush site, www.ogrmush.com, offers embassies for many online games of many themes. (StarWars, World of Darkness, Amber, etc.)
One of the things they have is a full dice system, that allows you to do rolls public or private etc. You would have to create your own character sheets but there you have it. Just an option or two.
Question: What criminal acts were performed by MS? To belabour a point, being a Monopoly is not Illegal, abuse of that monopoly is. MS was found to be abusing their monopoly in the US correct. But there is nothing in which you can go to jail for it. It's not like the Enron or other financial misdeeds there. If there is chapter and verse where in the EU/US/etc. where it says that if you abuse your monopoly in such and such a way that you go to jail do not pass go and do not collect your $200 000 000 000 000... dollars. Then fine. Till then, lets save jail for the real criminals eh?
That argument is a point of view I've seen before however I don't think it can hold up. Even now, Halo is still on the best selling lists. No price break for a Platinum hit or what have you. Yet you claim once it was ported to PC it flopped and real FPS gamers saw it for what it was? I would counter that real FPS gamers are people who play on multi platform and judge each on its own merits. Console FPS != PC FPS and vice versa. (Just look at the Counter Strike Port to XBOX). I haven't played the PC Halo, but can see why it would be 'overhyped hacked-up shit'. That said, Halo is probably the only FPS game I ever liked. (other than HL) While I don't put a great deal of value on gaming magazine ratings, most if not all of them rate it as one of the best games of the XBOX ever. That included current releases, a game like Halo will carry on in the XBOX gaming halls of glory much like HL does for PC. Different systems, different styles of games and different meter sticks by which you should judge.
Whee!
Frankly, I'm a fan of the HH Series, Good rollicking old fun. It suits my tastes which are rather diverse. Is it (namedrop) Umberto Eco, Mark Twain or other heavy hitters in the world of literature? No, of course not. (/namedrop) Frankly you have to be Crazy To go out and drop 80 smackers on 10 books based upon some sales persons sell job. And if you're that big of a fool (/endwittydoubleentendre) to do that? Then you deserve what you got. I frankly think that if I'd been taken that bad I would do the same thing, try and mask my foolishness by spouting off a lungfull of vitriol and bile. His review while comprehensive and really very good gets lost in his whole opening argument. Which is what you get for having your whole opening paragraph be modded as nothing but Troll.
Sorry, gotta call BS on this one. I don't know what's up with your install but worked on mine just like that, had to restart IE to make it stick.
Point of note, still use Firefox anyways, but still. Good call on the gpedit trick tho.

Must then join the ranks of DNF, for the uber sweetness that it will be.
Yes and I remember the introduction of photo radar here in Ontario.
1. Guy gets letter from Police saying that his car had been caught speeding. Includes picture of his car with licence plate. Fine? $50.
2. Guy, sends back fine envelope with picture of $50 bill.
3. Police, not amused send back picture of handcuffs.
3. Guy mails in cheque (NOT CHECK DAMMIT!) for said fine.
Because you know don't you that the bird population of Upstate New York will suffer huge culls! Oh, and babies will also start speaking in tongues, and, oh, who knows, the world might end.
Stupidity knows no bounds.

Yes you are, He makes $150 A Month .
The unique system for selling games? Used in many other stores for other products. It's called consignment.
Just one more factoid for the mind.
Has the guy been charged? Issued with a bench warrant? Has the Crown issued a request to the US authorities to have the guy extradited? Newp. And they probably won't either.

You mean a Slash . article that misses a chance to FUD about Hotmail or Yahoo or any of it's other targets on it's hit list? Say it ain't so!
Some articles Like this one Talk about how Sun is also cutting 3 300 jobs. Sucky.

Which I'm sure this will be as well.
