I'm not too bothered about SLI, but it'd catch my eye if I could run 4 monitors, all with 8x PCI Express(as opposed to my current setup, dual on my 9800 Pro on 8x AGP and a single one on my PCI Rage Pro).
> with the long delay of the Linux binaries, most Linux gamers will use Wine or get Windows somehow, and play the game, and when the binaries and boxed sets are released, a minority will buy or download, and it'll apprear as if there were no Linux gamers out there.
Heh. Welcome to gaming in Europe, where big brands don't release games and when (if!) they finally do several months after the US and Japanese releases they claim poor sales as an excuse not to bother with it. It's not because everyone who had enough interest on it already got it as an import, no sir.

As usual, Europe gets the short end of the stick with the videogames. Don't think I'm going to buy one of their consoles, I'll stick to my general-purpose PC without region specific shit, thanks.
I have a coupon with me for downloading HL2 via Steam that came with my Radeon 9800 Pro video card. It's the only reason I've installed that PoS software in my box.
And now it seems like there won't be Steamed HL2 after all. Bunch of tossers...
The problem with BH is not the outside temperature, is the goddamn slopes and hills. No matter how hot or not hot it is, by the time you've walked 300 metres outside you'll have your tongue hanging out and will be sweating like a pig
Quite a few folks I know that do protein modelling and the like are on IRIX machines and use the Internet from there too looking for biological information. Not many, for sure, but we're talking about all the small groups that make up that remaining 5%, right?
Sure, if you really have to change every single component it's better to get a new one. If you don't, then don't, just replace what you really need (in that case, the CPU and maybe the motherboard).
But why the hell do you have to buy new S-ATA drives just because your motherboard supports it? Mine also has a raid controller I've pretty happily ignored, should I format and reinstall everything I have just so that I can use it?. Should I buy Firewire components too simply because it has integrated Firewire ports to make sure I use them?
>But if you do need a new chip, unless you take joy in swapping out a motherboard or building your own system, Doom 3 is probably as good an excuse as any to buy a new PC.
Who the hell wrote that, a Mac user?
You don't buy a new fucking computer, you take it down to your local computer shop and get them to upgrade it if you don't want to do it yourself.
He'd have included an EULA with a "I'm not responsible for anything yadda yadda" at the end. Yes, even for inhouse software. It's not like anyone has to read it, you only have to include in it "by installing the software you agree with this".
> Next time, read the question before blasting away in a mad frenzy.
I see where your reply comes from, but you're barking at the wrong tree. Here's why:
randyest is NOT replying to the OP question, he's doing so to a -1 modded answer to it that says more modules are faster because some bullshit he pulled out of his ass.
Of course, there are several things that have failed in this communication channel:
1. You didn't check who randy was replying to (by clicking the "parent" link at the bottom of his post).
2. The -1 modded post didn't change the subject line (left it with Re: whatever).
3. Neither did randy.
4./. breaks thread integrity when showing anything with a threshold. Everything under the threshold is lumped under "X more replies".
5. randy should have quoted who he was answering to. Quoting is good.
The Lord of the Rings was too large and had too much happening to be done in one film. The book itself is split into 3 volumes. As it is, they probably should have shot 6 movies to match the 6 books Tolkien wrote, they had to cut out way too much.
People would have fallen asleep in the 4th movie/book.
No, really, it's a very very good read, but I get the feeling that those things that happen when the nasty little hobbitssess are travelling to Mordor wouldn't translate well into a film.
I've got DSL running on a laptop with a dead HD and screen, PII-300 with 96 megs of RAM. Luckily the CD-ROM still works fine. It's chugging away seti@home work units quite happily, and I've got Nethack installed on it O:)

Don't forget to tell me if you find out. I'd fucking sign up for that.
Shit, imagine having "Survived 500 days in isolation for the Russian Space Program" in your CV.
For crying out loud, someone with a biosense of humor give the lad some karma! :D
The benefit is pretty obvious, patent-ridden proprietary lock-in!
...
Oh, you mean for the user?
Who cares?
Well, that's the set I'm waiting for. You know it's coming, 20 DVDs of pure greatness...
But it comes with a hot chic! Sign me up!
> Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm still waiting on my flying car. Dammit.
M400 Skycar.

Yes, it fucking blows.

I have a Submission that has been pending for almost three months!

That said, I actually do like the city

Have you checked your "Spam" mail directory?
Also IRIX.

>Sure you're right. The info is stolen. BUT that doesn't make a good reason for modding it down, because it actually is good information anyway.
You are 100% correct. Specially given that it was posted as Anonymous Coward. It's not like the ACs can really go Karma whoring. Jeez, some people...
Probably that ATI will have to get their heads out of their asses and work a tad more on their OpenGL support. What does that mean for me?
City of Heroes runs in OpenGL, yay!
(They do use DirectX for sound though).
Specifically, reading the text I quoted:

Anyway, chill a bit guys.
Probably. IBM is the one who likes thin clients though...
My god, can you imagine a core dump of that thing while running wine?

Damn Small Linux is really good. 50 Mb of Penguin Power.
Isn't it a felony to own the source code of malware?
