Modify every game that comes out to have nudity. Heck, replace the the exe with one that plays a porno and then starts the game. Hopefully then all games will be rated M and people will stop paying attention to ratings.
I've always wondered, with usb many drives having greater capacity then CDs, why not setup LiveCDs to be run easily from a USB drive and also allow for some configuration data to be saved there?
I'd love to be able to test out distros on a thumbdrive...maybe it's just me though.
Companies can call, and sometimes will, call other companies and ask about your employment with them. They will try and get as much information as possible. Some companies will reveal your salary, and if that happens you're screwed.
My understanding is that they hard hardware that would take the CDs off of a spindle, rip them, and put them on another spindle without any human interaction. That would make it legal and a lot cheaper then manually ripping them.
Then I guess the only big thing is, who do you go to if there is a major problem? Novell and RedHat back Linux, but MySQL isn't that large of a company, and I don't even know who would support PostgreSQL. Personally if I was running an IT shop at a fortune 500 company I'd want my software backed by another large company (IBM, Oracle, MS, Novell, etc..)
For all of Oracle, IBM, and PostgreSQL the likelihood of a hardware error is far greater than the likelihood of a software error that leaves the database inconsistent. Where did you get that fact? In addition, assume a hardware error occurs, will the DB software be able to guarentee that the date is in a consistant state afterwards? What happens if there is a software issue, who will help you with MySQL or PostgreSQL? With a big bank there are many legal ramifications to everything that is done, you need a name like IBM or Oracle behind you to help fix problems.
Log graphs show more of a percent change, where linear graphs show an actual change. When looking at these graphs I don't care if the stock went up $5 (linear) in 1 year, what I do care about is if it went up an order of magnitude (log) or just a small percentage.
Yup, if you buy an iSeries box you can run i5OS (the new OS/400), AIX, and Linux. In addition the virtualization allows you to set up multiple virtual machines that perform really well. As the parent said, this will allow you to (with a single piece of hardware) move from your current AS/400 solution to a Unix/Linux solution. What this will not get you is a simple way to move to a windows solution.
I do want to know, are iSeries and Windows your only options?
Oh yeah, another benefit of having an iSeries is that IBM will support both your hardware and software. With windows you'll often get vendors arguing whose fault it is when a problem occurs. But I suppose that's your choice, vender lock-in can have (some) benefits.
My problem comes from when I see operations not have root on production servers. They need to call another group to do server specific stuff even though their app is the only thing running on the server. Does that make sense?
Okay, so with evolution we believe that mammals came from simpler creatures, that came from other creatures, that eventually came from single celled organisms. Those single celled organisms came from random proteins combining and this continues until we reach something as small as atoms. Where did they come from? Well, they came from quarks, or energy, but where did those come from?
All I'm trying to say is that both evolution and ID fail when we look back far enough.
Personally I believe in evolution and do not believe in a god, but I do think that people need to be willing to discuss all possible holes of both theories.
Where did all the matter and energy come from then? Even in the possibility of a big bang created our universe, that point of matter/energy is still submitted to the same laws (or different ones, but that doesn't disprove my point) than the current universe, therefore must have already existed or been created from other matter/energy, going through that same question. Whatever started it, it must have been started by something else, right?
Just because a theory has a part that's unexplained, does not discount the theory. You said yourself, "We have facts about the big bang, but what happened before is still faith."
Why are some people incapable of believing that a noncorporeal, intelligent and benevolent entity could be infinite in both "directions" of time--that is, capable of always having existed--and then turn around and in the same breath be capable of believing that the universe could?
Not saying you are such a person. Just that this obvious disconnect of reason baffles me.
I wonder if they will consider in game taking and typing to be considered IM and VoIP.
If so, a lot of games will be rather annoyed.

I propose that we petition congress to start a war on all the wars we're in. Maybe then we'll stop having all of the "War on ???" type of wars.
I'm going to have sex at work with an intern and then sue Bill Clinton if I get fired for inappropriate behavior.

Boot from a USB drive, and that way you don't have any moving parts (other then fans).
The problem is that is MS search becomes better then Google, they will probably limit it only to IE on Windows Vista

Well, you shut me up :-)
Thanks for the information.

Why not get a group of people and attempt this system with one of your favorite authors? See if it works.
According to the paper High Density Hard Disk Drive Trends in the USA, hard drive density has doubled every 12 months.
500GB - Now
1TB - 1 year
2 - 2
4 - 3
8 - 4
16 - 5
32 - 6
64 - 7
128 - 8
256 - 9
512 - 10
1024TB = 1PB - 11 years, Assuming that ariel density continues to double and the form factor stays the same.
Many people will not know that they are uploading. They will have another little app sitting in their tray and not worry about what it does.

I'm sure that's a good idea, but when the team that owns the box is overworked, it can slow things down.

And that's exactly what bothers me.

Thank you, finally someone explained it to me.
Okay, so what's wrong with the argument that some god (or gods) always existed and that god (or gods) created the universe?
Therefore a deity could be an intelligent designer of the universe. I don't see any more or less proof for that then the big bang theory
