And that is why you will never hold on to your money.
Don't get me wrong, your ideals are great and it's probably a better way to live then by pinching every penny, but very rarely does anyone get rich without pinching every penny. If you don't know the value of a dollar, then you'll lose that dollar to someone else.
At my school, you couldn't get a public ip address without registering your mac address with your school account. Once the network card is registered, then you no longer need to log onto the network.
See, I love starcraft (and still play it) but I couldn't get into WC3. I can't pay attention to that many details at once. Get rid of the heros, and I think I could handle it...or even better, give me starcraft with the WC3 interface.
And if motherboard problems end up being the reason for the crash? Or even a bad CPU...you might not want to replace the CPU, but instead you might just want to move your drive to a new system.
"Windows, however, is more transactional. It tends to trickle log files and other data even when systems are idle, keeping drives spinning. Placing that data in the write cache allows disk drives to power down."
In an enterprise environment, if your database server or web server is often reading from the disk, then chances are you have a major performance problem. Disk I/O should be limited in any environment where you want high performance.
I can see this being very helpful when writing logs though. Instead of keeping the drive constantly spinning, it can just write to the flash memory and only occationally spin the drive up to dump that to disk.
I don't like that idea, since if a system failure occurs and I want to move my harddrive to another system, there is a chance that the harddrive is in a bad state. Where as if you have th flash integrated with the HDD, then the write buffer is with the disk (as it should be).
Next time you go through security see what happens. If they have reason to believe that your electronic device isn't what you claim it is, then they will ask you to turn on the machine. They will NOT turn it on for you.
In Maryland it's legal to have sex with a 16 year old. So if a resident of Texas flies to Maryland to have sex with a 16 year old, when you fly back home can you get into legal trouble in Texas?
Instead of restricting reporting dupes to subscribers, they could restrict it to those with good Karma. That way only the people that seem to add something to/. can report problems.
It's not violent video games, it's any form of violent media. Movies, TV, books...I mean, look at the bible, that has inspired some of the more violent actions ever.
Even if you don't listen to a lot of music , the subscription model makes sense. I want to be able to have parties with different music playing in 2 different rooms without repeats and include newer songs. I can either buy the music for a few hundred dollars and be limited by the DRM, or rent it for $10 a month and have DRM that limits my use in a similar way (yeah, yeah, it's different, but for the way I use the music the differences don't matter much).
So for me, renting makes a lot of sense. Now if only NetFlix will allow movies on demand.
I disagree. If you don't change your SSID, then someone can figure out what router you are using, and therefore will have an easier time breaking into it. They could either: a) Try the default password OR b) Using a known hack for that type of router (Although, I admit I don't know of any.)
Just because iy doesn't use the motion sensing feature doesn't mean it can't use the remote control. Chances are they won't require you to have a gamecube controller (or any accessories that aren't included) in order to play the game.
Disk swapping to change games should be a dealbreaker.
I'd rather have police on segways then police on horses.
I'd want this for public terminals. It would be nice not having to worry about the browser caching my passwords when I use a machine at the airport.

I would think that the angle of the reader relative to the passport would be important if the shield is slightly open.
My understanding is that the FBI tends to deal with computer thefts better then local police.
If I recall correctly, .NET is register based, and Java is stack based.
Why couldn't the drive have a write cache in it? It makes perfect sense to me.

Economics of Scale. Since they will be selling fewer of the L versions, they need to increase the price.

It seems that I read as well as he does :-)
I honestly can't believe I missed that line. Thank you for pointing it out.

Seriously though, can you give me some references on this? A few of my friends would find such information very interesting.

a) 'default' SSIDS are irrelevant.

terrorist
An individual who uses violence, terror, and intimidation to achieve a result. See also terrorism.
That sounds a lot like Bush and the current US administration. So, I suppose by letting the NSA listen to my phone the terrorists have won.
