  1. No rules... on Web 'Rules' Changing? · · Score: 5, Insightful

Unlike real life, the Internet has no rules, be it content, language, format, or organization. These rules are generally asserted to better help web designers (as there are some horrendously designed sites), but they are by no means written in stone. Follow what you think is best.

  6. Re:what a stupid idea on First UK On-Train WiFi Service Launches Monday · · Score: 1

There is no conclusive evidence that WiFi is hazardous. Cellphones put out 10x more power, and even being so close to your head, they only raise the cell temperatures by .01 degress, which is nothing. Having forty people using WiFi (which is improbable) will not have adverse health effects.

Seriously - don't flame me. Win CE is very user friendly out of the box, and that's what one needs in a car interface. Familiarity is also key. Add some flashy, touch screen navigation, and voila. I'd have thought the increased cost of using MS as a reason to use a Linux flavor, but hey, I'm not the one spending money here.

  20. This is pretty silly on "iPod's Dirty Secret" · · Score: 2, Insightful

First of all, as many have said before me, the battery costs $99, not $250. Also, the site went up days *after* the announcement, which means they were irresponsible enough to keep it on.

Second, batteries don't last forever. There can't be a life expectancy because that number is dependent on number of charges, hours used, length of time used, and other factors. If they said "13000 hours" and some fool's iPod went dead before that, then he'd be compelled to put it on a site like these people did, which IMO, is ridiculous.
It is very possible their tech support guy was a moron, but they shouldn't tarnish the reputation of iPod or Apple. It's so pathetic how they always go for the most successful products and attempt to break them to pieces.

To just focus on the music industry is be unfair about the whole situation. What he writes is what every corporate exec knows and wants. But why does that make them evil? They need to make money. If you were in their shoes, you'd do the same.

Yeah, because we don't have poor people in the United States living on the streets, in trailer parks, and in slums. It's all right for us to spend billions researching how ants interact in space (and spend much, much, much less on problems on earth), but it's not all right for China to do the very same, and albeit, spend much, much, much less on the space program. Hypocrisy.

That's rich! Are you saying Wernher von Braun or the other German rocket scientists had any ties to America and the American "advances"? There were no advances. Even in the 30's, Goddard was having many problems. Despite lack of contact, von Braun took Germany from nothing to a pioneering rocket program. Had it not been for him, the U.S. space program wouldn't be what it is today. Don't you forget that.
