What will the prices be like? If anything like iTMS, it should be about $10 a movie, which I think is too much. Of course, when I say iTMS, I refer to the individual songs and not the whole album, which would almost cost the same on iTMS and buying the album. Anyway, should be interesting...at least for those on broadband!
Ka ching! I'm sure every nerd...erm, guy, would like to play out his fantasies, at least with his head on some other guy's body. Forgive me if I completely misunderstood the blurb, but someone has to adopt this technology. For me!
How many of you are going to build this? Maybe for fun, but imagine taking one of those along on a vacation or a trip or something. I don't think so. I realize that that is besides the point, but shouldn't some of these projects actually appeal to more tech people, as opposed to a tiny portion who produce movies and such? Recall the Popular Science and Popular Mechanics stuff from teh 60s and 70s: they *had* a purpose and appealed to a much larger audience. Why is it difficult to do the same while keeping the techie edge?
I agree. I don't see the point. It's not enough that people spam blogs, forums, and other places, now they have to tag their b.s. in public places? This does nothing but ruin the environment, even if it's one of concrete or stone.
Seriously, don't. While it may appear to make sense, it will do you more harm than good. Not only will you waste a year - and the definition of waste varies here - but you may find it even more difficult to return. I have many friends who did the same and they regret it. Don't be like them, be smarter.
Besides, it's not as big a deal as you appear to believe. As long as you have discipline and the desire to learn, you won't have any problems. The first year or so is easy enough as it is!
P.S. If you *really* want to get ahead, take a couple of those basic classes at your local community college this summer. Not only will you get ahead, but you'd be making an ever smoother transition!
The first is very inefficient, because a laser from the ground will lose a lot of energy before it reaches your peltier. On a related note, perhaps a peltier in orbit would generate electricity by itself, since one side would face the sun (hot) and the other away (cold), and the delta would produce electricity. No?
The second isn't wireless power. That's like saying, "You want wireless power in your lodge? Here, take this generator!" You're in essence generating power in that place, which isn't the same to me. I don't know how NASA would see that.
The third still isn't wireless power. Besides, it's still very, very inefficient.
A guy flew a model place with wireless microwave power, but that also was inefficient, or would be at really long distances.
You can't JUST blame the businesses, because they wouldn't spend a cent if they got nothing back. This is why spammers are making hundreds of thousands a month, because people DO buy this stuff. It's a cycle, not just limited to one party.
The details of the survery were not included in the article, so I couldn't just make that assumption in the blurb. Unless I am mistaken, in which case I stand corrected.
Regardless, I haven't bought anything from spam. Even if something interestd me, I would be worried about getting ripped off. That said, nothing so far has. Yes, not even "enlargement" offers.;)
But couldn't it be that those who possess the backup gene - for example, against cancer - may not develop cancer, even if their parents did? Obviously, this is only in plants and has not yet been confirmed, but how is this any different from a gene that's turned on or off? If the backup gene is turned off, what good is it? If you can turn it off, why can't you turn off the bad one? I'm obviously not a biologist, but maybe someone can take a swing at my silly queries.
I don't think it's out of date. Simply, most people who use it don't know what it means, thus, it has an "extra" meaning, which is not very accurate at all. Even if we do count those programs in the same malware pool, I don't think the Adobe toolbar falls anywhere near them.
From WikiPedia: "Malware (a contraction of "malicious software") refers to software developed for the purpose of doing harm." If its not purpose is not to do harm, then no, it is not malware. Malware are viruses, trojans, etc.
This is why we need something along the lines of "annoyware" so that we can separate the two.
I agree. It should have a removal option. BUT, it doesn't do any harm, which is the actual definition of malware. Again, I think Adobe should be more responsible, but let's not bundle this with other, harmful toolbars or software. Instead of being upset, why not we email pressure Adobe to incorporate such a feature?
I disagree. The only thing it's doing is making it difficult for the user to remove the toolbar, which is contrary to malware, whose sole purpose is to do some sort of *actual* harm, not simply perceived harm from one's inability to get rid of it. Maybe it's annoyware?;)
By asking whether or not it is worse than malware, you are implying it is harmful. However, in the very end, you suggest that it is only worse in the sense that you can't get rid of it. That is very misleading.

When you buy used, you're not giving anything to the artist, either. Besides, not every label is part of the RIAA, so you're in fact punishing your favorite artist by choosing to buy from such places as SecondSpin.
Most people didn't see it coming, end of story. If a few people write books now about the U.S. being invaded by aliens, and it happens in twenty years, you can hardly call that a prediction. The point is the vast majority of economists, politicians (excluding Reagan's fan boys), sociologists, and just about any other credible person at the time did not predict the break-up of the Soviet Union. And the sole reason for that is that no one saw what Gorbachev saw, and it wasn't an economic decline, I'll tell you that much. Don't try to re-write history.
I've been using it since DOS was around. Then 3.11, 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, XP SP2. The point is, it works for me. I have every software that I need to be productive and the environment just works perfectly with that.*
Infinity + 1? That's a joke, Kevin!
It would be funnier if TIGER had a LONGHORN! *wink nudge*

I don't think this is a trend that we'll see in the future. Rather, it's some creative marketing on the part of the organizers/attendees.
No one cares enough about Debian to vote for a leader. ;)

Wow, you're just so...wow, your wisdom has taken my breath away. I was going to comment, but with a sig like that, just wow.

Yes, average. I should have clarified! :)
