That's widely been speculated as being the "Aurora" project. A Pulse-Wave-Detonation engine that produces an interesting exhaust pattern(donuts on a rope) and flies in the area of Mach 3 to Mach 6. It's rumored to be a large, black, delta shaped aircraft, and has been spotted by BA pilots near Manchester, England, and near Beale AFB, California (Former home of the SR-71).
See this page at FAS.org for more information: http://www.fas.org/irp/mystery/aurora.htm
I've given up. Everyone seems to want my services for free, so now I tell them up front $60 an hour. I figure that's how much my time spent away from my wife and kids is worth.
Although I HAVE traded flight time in my uncles Cessna 172 once. That was a good deal.
My 9 year old son was recently diagnosed with early-onset schizophrenia. His experience has been one of "Mean voices" telling him to run away and hide, and he becomes so distraught by this, that he forgets to look for traffic when he runs across the street, and he's been known to climb the utility pole in our backyard and try to hide in our chimney.
More than anything, my wife and I have been concerned for his safety. When he gets distressed, he's a danger to himself.
We've been through two miserable psychiatrists at Kaiser-Permanente (NorCal), and finally found a good shrink at Sutter Center for Psychiatry. We've been through a litany of drugs, and the thing that seems to be helping now is a cocktail of (primarily) Abilify.
We've also been trying to get him into a clinical trial at the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, mainly to get a firm diagnosis. That prspect seems to be waning, so We're looking into programs at USF and the MIND institute at the UC Davis Med Center.
It's been taxing on my wife and I, but it's also cemented our relationship. He's quite a handful, tending towards ADHD and OCD as well. He ends up in our bed most nights because of the night terrors, but when he's focused, he is the most loving and caring child, more so than his "normal" sister.
Here here! I played Popeye at my high school drive in theater job all the time. It's still my fave on the MAME emulator.
That place was a virtual museum of video games. It was always barely turning a profit, so Syufy never put any money into it. Consequently we had the oldest games. I remember a Defender, Turtles, Popeye, Space War, and the Atari game with the handlebars... It was an Evil Kenevil (sp?) type game.
I've spent the last year educating users on what attachments to leave alone, what websites and insipid little screensaver/ game/ toys to leave alone. What did I do today?
Spent 3 hours clearing a spyware infested machine.
I posed a very serious question for very serious discussion, and only Fantastic had the guts to reply in a serious manner.
We've only recently have begun to discuss human travel to Mars, the next planet in our solar system. I question our ability to harness this discovery to better humankind in the next 5 centuries, much less tomorrow. Can you give me one deep space discovery that affects our daily life? The only one I can think of would be x-rays, over 100 years ago.
And who cares? Does the fact that the information continues to exist in a black hole make my life any better or worse? How does it affect me and my family?
Does it affect my paycheck at the end of the week? Does it cure my grandfather's cancer? Does it stop my next-door neighbor from beating his girlfriend up? Does it help me figure out what's wrong with my car? Will it solve our dependance on petroleum based fuels? Will it remove the chemical pollutants from the atmosphere and seal the hole in the ozone layer?
I can appreciate these very intelligent people are thinking about very heady subjects, but why not solve problems here on earth that effect us mere mortals every day.
Yep- Steve Forbes owns a Draken and has been restoring it in a hanger (right across the street from me) at the former McClellan AFB, Sacramento.
Skip Holm Flew it at this last Reno Air Race.
I've heard rumors that he's restoring an A-4 or A-7 currently.
Why would someone go to such elaborate measures and great expense(putting together a prototype, sending exhibitors to CES, et al.) just to fool... whom?
If it *isn't* a hoax, how can they possibly compete against heavy hitters like MS and Sony?
I don't get it, what's it all about?
They gave up a couple of years ago, around the same time as the dot.com crash. It's a damn shame too because they had informative, if repetetive content that really got me through the daily 3 hour drive to San Jose and Monterey from Sacramento.
It's a shame the TechTV programmers can't come up with anything more interesting than "The Screensavers" because I think the market can still support a techno-centric media outlet, particularly in the Bay and the Sacramento Valley.
Are you there Kent?
It's me, God.
Stop Touching yourself Kent...
On a trip to Reno, I once cleared over $500 from a nickle slot machine.
On my next trip I lost well over $1000 on (mostly) dollar slots and blackjack.
I must be cured, because I haven't had the urge to go to Reno since that last trip.

In fact, Tamiya has been making remote-control vehicles since 1960. So now they've strapped a camera on and make it our of titanium?
BFD.
Thanks for asking.

I hope I've given you some insight.

Correction: He wasn't wearing a suit. He was wearing a black polo and khakis, aka the casual corporate uniform.
It's been said that with a hard hat and a clipboard you can get into nearly any building. This is just another example of that taken a step further.
Only 8 posts in. Sad.
I saw the "Robosaurus" like 6 years ago at the Stockton Airshow.
And by the way, the Air Force has nothing to do with it.
And all of this free advertising has gotten him exactly *zero* bids.

Those were the days...

Thanks for the crap moderation, cowards.

Of course, because it's Disney we know we'll get 3 sequels, all direct-to-video.
Zooey Deschanel is great. I *loved* her in "The New Guy".
Mos Def was in "The Italian Job" and hosts HBO's "Def Poetry".

It's now slashdotted all to hell. *sigh* .

And what happens to my Eggos when I have the pop-up killer running?
It's incredibly informative that I bought a phone. How would you have known otherwise?
Just bought a phone for my wife tonight and I was interested to see that it has GPS included. Interesting privacy and safety issue.
Yes! My company is still running Paradox for DOS. And we have a guy that SWEARS by Z-Tree. Nutty, ain't it?
