Of course, we should remember that the P/E ratios of all these companies, and the granddaddy of inorganic growth, Cisco, are over the norm for the market as a whole. That's a growth stock portfolio for you!

The objective is to control a slice of many pies that adds up to a tutti-frutti whole (poor taste?) The secondary objective is to be in on the game not through innovation, but through absorption - I wonder of course, what happens when one of these Borg assimilates another Borg?

For those with concerns about security, hacking, etc. there are possible solutions. A good, low cost, locked-down EVM can be deployed on a standard PC - running any OS - the UI needs to be only a radio-button-type list box, with a submit/cancel button, and a tracker for each entry in the list box. The Admin views can be kept on a separate machine, and downloaded into the actual EVM PC. Top-class encryption can be thrown in with no additional complexity. A basic reporting app can tabulate and display results. No network cards needed on the EVM

What other features would ensure better acceptance of EVMs?

The headphone jack is on a small part separate from the rest of the board. This small part attaches to the main iPOD board via a small black connector that sits on on the main board.

The small part with the headphone jack attaches via screws to the aluminium case, but does not screw to the main board. Because of this any pressure on the case, dock connector, or simply plugging in and out headphones, creates tension between the small part and the main board. Since only the black connector sits between these two parts, it quickly wears out.

Well, I've sent it off, and feel somewhat easier, but as confused as anyone about why one state should care about goods purchased from another state if the retailer is not registered in the second state.

Of course, with the strength and ease of data-mining, this may be very easy for revenue agencies to collate and use in an audit. In which case, I might be better off:)
