    True, MS has no reason to kill it off just yet. They probably won't for a few years.

    But now it has the power to do so, in the future, should they ever choose.

    It has been established recently that inaudible frequencies are sensed by humans, and affect mood.

    Of course, there's prolly not much in inaudible frequencies in a recording studio...

    hey, don't knock 5-line scroll-panes

    half my software now seems to use 2-line scroll-panes. because the rest of the NON-SIZABLE window has to be taken up by a big block of text that belongs in the help file that you won't read more than once.

    I wish I could get those developers and force them to look through those 2-line scroll-panes all day

    the fact that they are not making effort avoiding prior art objections shows that they are irrelevant in the patenting process nowadays

    the fact is whatever patent people apply for it is almost always granted, and the actual argument only happens in the courts after words

    they might also be using this chance so that when people object they can keep making small amendments to the patent so that they can extend the amount of time it is valid for

    since when was downloading more than one gigabyte a day considered usual practice? A moderately sized Corp. would not download that much including employees web browsing.

    and since when did you think you were allowed to use VPNs if the contract specifically said you were not allowed to?

    Problem with representatives is that if there stupid they're more likely to listen to the corporations than some individual. If they're smart then they will know that they can just send you a form letter and continue taking campaign contributions, conscience clear because they can rationalize that when they lose their competitor would take the contributions anyway.

    Sounds like the lesson is being missed by many here.

    It's actually that fact that Sony innovations are doomed to be taken over by competing products. First BetaMax, then MD... now what DVD camp were they in? DVD+RW or DVD-RW....

    1) spank 'em. Like they do in Singapore. Sell tickets to the event. Guaranteed to work, if anyone was brave enough to suggest it.

    2) make their legal guardians pay a fine say $200 per event. They shoulda been teaching their kids not to be vandals. Then they can provide the spanking (see 1) at their own leisure.

    in theory developing for .NET has lots of potential

    but the problem is that they expect us to develop for it exclusively right now
    with the exception of VC.NET, you can no longer produce programs for Win32

    so if you want to produce Win32, you are forced to either use the outdated VS6, or use another company's tools. Now the problem is what happens when Microsoft flips a switch and only VS.NET programs will run on Windows.
