The fact is, that playing the social game is part of your job.
So true. I've heard it called "Networking" many times. I've seen a couple people passed over for several positions due to their attitude. Knowledge-wise they were probably the best for the job, but if you're bitter as f*ck and don't care what people think about you, it shows. If you're going to be a thorn in the other employee's side, might as well pick the second most knowledgeable candidate that can work with others and train them an extra week.
The BOFH maybe funny to read about, but I don't want to have to depend on him.:P
I would definately NOT install this on a 2003 server system. Under the hood it's a lot different than XP and they'll release a separate srvice pack if needed. Hopefully it wouldn't let you, but if you access to a server in the school lab, go nuts.
In addition if it's a quality game, $54 dosen't seem like a whole lot of money. I spent $70 of paper route money to get Phantasy Star for my Sega Master System. A heck of a lot of money, but I played the hell out of it and I didn't feel ripped off in the least bit. The game was ahead of it's time and the people who made it deserved to get paid for what was probably a couple YEARS of work. I feel the same way with Doom 3. My copy is in the mail, at $45 I don't feel boned at all.
I don't recall any reports of the US building a "wall" to protect its borders with Canada and Mexico. It's rather pointless to have all this "security" at ports when someone can simply walk across the border anyway.
I think the point of it is to make it a little harder to enter the country. Technically I could kill 100 people with a butter knife if I REALLY wanted to. But it'd be a lot easier with fully-automatic chaingun. Why make the fully-automatic chaingun illegal if I can have the same effect with a legal butterknife. Anywho, yea it's not too hard to come in through either land border, but then the administration (current or next) has some blame to spread around.
"Timmy the terrorist came in through country XXXX. If their immigration policy was better then this wouldn't of happened."
I think the problem with Batman is that the producers and such try to re-make it into something that reflects themselves.
True. It also seems the try to put in what they think is "cool" as far as current pop-culture goes with little reguard to the actual story lines or even the characters themselves. At least with the current comic book movies they're letting them keep their original names. The Hulk TV show had David Banner as the Hulk because Bruce Banner sounded too homosexual. I cringe when I think about what they are going to do with the americanized-live-action Evangelion movie. *wipes tear from eye*
Back to the point, there's a funny part in "An Evening With Kevin Smith". He talks about working on a new Superman flick that seems to have been in pre-production for the last 7 years or so. He was working with a producer or somebody that said the new Superman shouldn't fly, wear a cape, and needs a completely new costume because the current ones were gay. He went on to explain that he should fight spiders, because they're the most evil creatures blah blah blah... They both were dropped from the movie and the producer with his head up his ass went on to make the cinematic masterpiece "Wild Wild West".
When you call a store owner a "working man" you're pushing it. Look how the phrase was used in the above comment - now substitute "store owner" and it's a bit different.
It dosen't change a thing.
Most small business owners I know work their asses off. Because they own the store dosen't mean they sit back and don't do anything. If I owned a store and some 20 year old college student who's never worked a day in their life comes by and smashes my window because of their lack of understanding on how economics work, I'd be pretty pissed. If I worked at someone else's store and the same thing happend, I'd be pretty pissed. All this Businesses/Rich People(if they're conservative) are evil crap is so old and so off base, grow up!!
I grew up poor and I work my ass off everyday so I don't die poor. I don't blame anyone else for my lazyness or social problems, I can't stand other people who do.
What!! But businesses are evil. Sure they employ millions of people. Sure they're double taxed, so they foot the bill for a lot of roads schools and social programs. Sure they sponsor activities like Junion Achievement, after school programs, boy/girl scouts , etc. And then there's the donations made from the companies themselves as well as directly from the employees and the unions, which the corporation directly and indirectly support. But other than that,.001% of all businesses are corrupt! Therefore they should all be destroyed and we should live in anarchy.
...or could those WTO protesters and all the drug-fuled brain-power of "Rage Against the Machine" be wrong?!?!
That's better than leaving Osama bin Laden at large.
Yea, Osama would've been caught by now because the US only has what, a handful of people in its populace. There's no way it could handle both tasks at once.
Go ask anyone who lost a brother, father, mother, daughter in war, terrorist attack, car crash, or whatever and ask them if they wouldn't like them back. You'll get the same response.
It scares me how many people think freedom isn't worth fighting for. Thank god WWII happened a 60 years ago.
Classic response:But we went in to Iraq looking for WMDs, we were mislead!
Horseshit! He HAD WMDs, he's used them, read a history book. EVERY country aggreed he had WMDs, the big rift between US/Britian and Germany/France/Russia was how to disarm Saddam. The exsistance of nerve gas and other nasty stuff was never in question. Sure the santions were 12 years old, but maybe in another 12 years he might give inspectors unrestricted access.
Rob (Gotta have Phantasy Star; don't see how it would be worth it otherwise)
Phantasy Star was a classic and WAY ahead of its time I tought. There were other just kick-butt games for that system that never got the exposure they diserved, except for Shinobi.
Shinobi - Rocked Double Dragon - FAR superior to the Nintendo version in graphics and it was 2 player!!! Wonderboy in Monsterland - Awesome side-scroller w/ some basic RPG elements ??Some Zelda-ripoff game. It was really well done, the graphics were sweet, and you could get a ship. Rented it one time, forget what it was??
Anywho, I'm sure there were some other great ones too, but everyone else had NES sytems and only one of the rental stores carried games...grrrrrrrr
I'm sure only a small pecentage of people would be checking the website. Heck, in my town they publish where the sobriety checkpoints are going to be set up for the weekends and holidays, and the cops STILL have a bumper crop of DUI/OMVI arrests.
Oh well, I guess it pays to pay attention...and drink at home.
what movies would you recommend that fall into the "quirky love story about two weirdos meeting and falling in love complete with psychedlic visuals, uncomfortable visuals, a sense of possible dark and violent doom and tense sound and music work" genre that DOES have good acting in it?
Sex-Trek: The Next Penetration
Was gonna say this but I could smell my karma burning.
I'm pretty sure Al Franken isn't a middle of the road resource.
I don't think people should cite comedians as sources anyway.
There is always FrankenLies.com to dispute that. And a lot of other stuff in the book in inaccurate as well, but it is told to be a joke. That's what bugs me about him and Michael Moore being taken seriously. When the flaws in their work are disproved, they go to the "It's just satire" copout. Well, when your agenda is to change people's views on on things, you should probably take more responsibility for what you say. Especailly if you label your movies "documentaries" and not comedies.
Fox News is undoubtedly conservitive. I've heard Cavuto on Limbaugh's radio show (we can agree he's conservative, correct?) talking up the economy. Either Brit Hume or Tony Snow as actually filled in as a guest host on Rush's show (It's been a while, can't remember who). O'Reilly is a huge conservative, though that's not really a news program. Same story with Cal Thomas and Oliver North, not news shows, but unapologeticly conservative. Then again, they also emply Dick Morris and Geraldo Rivera, two people way on the other side of the isle. Rupert Murdoch is conservative, But then again Ted Turner, as well as the head of Viacom, and the head of Disney are liberals. Seen the John Kerry infomercial on MTV? Did you see 60 Minutes' hour long infomercial for Bill Clinton's book? I was waiting for the 1-800 number at the bottom of the screen so I could order within the next five minutes to get a free bathrobe and Juicer with the purchase of the hardcover.
Everyone sites FOX being biased, but your a right-wing nutjob to think the other stations are not. Anywho, to end my rant, it's nice one station will show some of the good news from Iraq, instead of just a daily bodycount. So I guess reporting BOTH sides of the issue rather than just the bad stuff makes you biased?!?!?!
We only tested the atom bomb a couple weeks before we dropped it on Japan. Even after we knew it worked we were planning a full-scale invasion. We had been fire-bombing their cities for months and they hadn't surrendered after that, there was a good chance they wouldn't surrender now.
Given, I'm sure these other countries wouldn't have played a huge role in the invasion, but I'm sure they did it for more than moral support.
Except for the Soviets, they had a damned non-agression pact with them till almost the end of the war.
Yes, but here you are also paying heavy for the name. Which makes no sense since I doubt Sony makes there own boards and a lot of other hardware is most likely made by other manufacturers. With laptops and PDAs being relatively cheap nowdays, I'm curious if they'll sell enough to make a profit at a $2,000 price point.
Why should Windows users be "cured". It's an operating system that is easy to use, is widely supported and easy to support. I have a Red Hat 9 box that runs like a champ but can be a pain in the butt sometimes and I'd hate like hell to support it over the phone to family. I haven't had a virus since ?Elvira? back in 94 or 95, and that's though using various Windows boxes from 88' to present. I'd LOVE to see Linux become mainstream, but it still ain't there yet. It's a differnt OS for a different purpose/user. Just my.02
That's a relief. I've always been worried about my Cognac becoming loose.
That's why you have to do your kegel exercises!
Apparently the mods have never seen "The Running Man". At least the prison scene at the beginning.
The fact is, that playing the social game is part of your job.

Nah... It just voids your marital contract. That "Til Death Do Us Part" line is the escape clause.
I would definately NOT install this on a 2003 server system. Under the hood it's a lot different than XP and they'll release a separate srvice pack if needed. Hopefully it wouldn't let you, but if you access to a server in the school lab, go nuts.

Good call.
I wonder why there aren't "Animal Farm" awards.

Ahhhh, now AOL's spam problem is FINALLY over.
And with 9.0, it's easier to use than ever. I'm sure ppl will be going back to them in droves now.
I just feel sorry for the first person with braces to get too near the the thing!!!
Will the 3d graphics have 128MB of ram?
Will my cellphone have a 2GHz Athlon in it now? Is it going to have a microdrive in it? What about ram? Where is the 1GB of PC2700 going to fit in?
Yes, but you'll have to wear an oven mitt to use it!!
