    A lot of high end electronics like smart phones are air freighted, not shipped on the ocean. I used to work in international transportation.

    Verizon phones only take SIM cards for either:
    A) using the phone overseas. It will not work on a US GSM network
    B) LTE - 4G data. At this point you can swap SIMs with other Verizon phones/devices but not with another carriers'.

    Most US employees do not have a contract. Contracts are common for public school teachers or for high level executives, but are rare in most fields. This is a double edged sword as it means you can leave your job at any time with no notice.

    It's against FAA regulations to have your phone on during take-off or landing, even while in airplane mode. You're free to think that this is a stupid policy, but it's there.

    I like the Gears series, but still can't get over the fact that they don't wear helmets?!?! (yes I know real life special forces don't wear them so they can hear better). One bullet to the head and they should be finished.

    I predict that it will be very easy for developers to port from Windows x86 to ARM. Yes, they will have to release separate binaries, but it will not be difficult.

    All that would be needed is a system run by the credit bureaus that requires you to say "yes" to any credit/loan requests. Applying for a car loan? All you do is login and say yes. Someone tries to fraudulently do something using your identity? You deny it.

    Verizon and Sprint been selling phones for years that have a GSM radio for use overseas. This is commonly known. I've never had one but heard that Verizon will unlock it for you if you ask.

    No, they don't have the basic drivers for all printers anymore. I have a Deskjet 380 and yesterday was only able to find the 380 meg "driver" on their website.

    The $500 is for the phone with no subsidy. Once you're under contract, you aren't eligible for the subsidy.

    My Korg guitar tuner is crippled. It won't tune to certain non-standard tunings, but the more expensive model will. However, if you push the button to make the notes flat by a half step, twice, for a full step, the tuner will let you tune to any non-standard tuning.

    I beg to differ. I'm on my 3rd 360 (2nd one broke the same day they sent it to me). All 6 people I know with 360s have had to have them replaced. All of us take pristine care of our electronics, including providing good ventilation.

    I like the 360, but it's a flawed system.
