It begs the question why goverments around the world are encouraging everyone to use the internet, but is there really enough of a reason for everybody to need to? Is the internet suitable for everybody? Will it ever be?"
Everyone should have access to the internet. I know there is a lot of bad things on there, but there is so much more good. Wikipedia, Google, all that stuff; if it weren't for the internet, I'd know practically nothing. It makes research so much easier than driving all the way up to the library, sifting through books and magazines and not even finding the right info.
It allows for fast and easy gathering of information and images, and sharing of all kinds of data (and I don't mean just Kazaa...)
Of course, we don't need the internet, but, we don't really need anything besides food and water, either.
Seriously, I use Windows and OOo, and there isn't anything I can't do with them as far as I know. I've never been like "Damn! If I only I was using Word!" Now I know there are probably a few features Word has that OOo doesn't, but chances are, Ability and Star Office don't have them either.
They are a threat, at least somewhat. They clog thousands of emails per day with their rubbish, wasting millions of dollars. However, they shouldn't be executed, or put in jail for life or something exorbitant like that. I mean, you *can* get put in jail for copying movies, and that's not a physical threat to anyone, either.
All spammers are going to have to do is just set up their servers in 3rd world countries. The UK isn't going to travel to Zaire to shut down a steamboat. Who spams FROM Britain, anyway?
Still, this does make it a lot harder for the very few spammers in Britain to, well, spam. Moving your servers to Zaire isn't exactly easy.
In other words, this might be the perfect video game.
There's NEVER going to be a game that is even near perfect in everybody's eyes. Someone is always going to gripe about it, and I, for one, am not a big FF nut myself... oh dear, a/. reader who doesn't like FF? Can't be true...
Because... I know A LOT of people who I had to convince to get xChat, so they didn't even know about IRC. And email, it's hard to sit and wait for replies; most people don't chat in their email, they just fill it with boring, requested info. I use IM all the time, because it's easy, and -like the name says- instant.
That's not what they think, apparently. Their alleged "reason" is that third-party apps make the network unstable and prone to hacking. I think, though, that one of their hidden reasons is that third-party apps make their product appear inferior. Instead of spending money making theirs better and creating a more secure network... they'd rather just bl0xx0r everyone who doesn't use their stuff.
By the way, does ANYONE here use Yahoo IM? I don't know anyone who does...
They can if they use the same material in these clothes.
You mean you didn't use bongo drums?
Nokia 7600, 3G/GSM, MP3, WCDMA, GSM 900/1800, PDA
Apparently, Nokia joined the AOEWLTAFE. (Asso. of Engineers Who Like to Use Acronyms for Everything)
Personally, I think it's very G. (good)
It's suppositories... duh.

That little robot bellybutton probe wasn't the ONLY thing Agent Smith put in Neo.
There's NO tilting this bitch.

NASCAR and geekdom can finally come together!
But OOo only costs $0.00.

By the way, spell checked with OOo!
**Prepares for anti-OOo flames**
On second thought, let's not go to Broadway. 'Tis a silly place.
I STILL say my dish is better than anything you can get. Damn, I can WiFi to my brother's computer all the way in Zeta-Twelve!
Sounds like something MS wants you to do...
I don't recommend actually getting it a beer tho...
Hey now, beer makes a GREAT coolant!

Of course it will run on PC! But only if you download my alpha-version spyware-infested non-existent PS2 emulator from www.haxxorps2.com.de.
And while you're at it, check out the full line of free pr0n passwords that format your ha-, um, give you XXX access instantly!
Ok... SOMEONE doesn't seem to realize that /.ers are vampires.
:P
Sun = bad!
I just wish it would come out before december since I just finished KotoR and need a new game.
Taco, I thought you knew better than to not capitalize "December."
By the way, am I the only one where who doesn't like FF? Just wondering.
In other words, this might be the perfect video game.

They ARE industry leading, if you count "vaporware hyping" as an industry. ;)
Wouldn't it be easier to just tell them your Jabber/MSN/Yahoo/AIM sign-name and not bother with servers/IRC stuff?
Eh... that's AIM. Or is AIM more 45 year old bald guys who say they are 14 year old schoolgirls? I forgot...
Oh Ya, and Nostradamus also predicts turmoil in the middle east. Will there be any sand involved!?
