It begs the question why goverments around the world are encouraging everyone to use the internet, but is there really enough of a reason for everybody to need to? Is the internet suitable for everybody? Will it ever be?"

Everyone should have access to the internet. I know there is a lot of bad things on there, but there is so much more good. Wikipedia, Google, all that stuff; if it weren't for the internet, I'd know practically nothing. It makes research so much easier than driving all the way up to the library, sifting through books and magazines and not even finding the right info.

It allows for fast and easy gathering of information and images, and sharing of all kinds of data (and I don't mean just Kazaa...)

Of course, we don't need the internet, but, we don't really need anything besides food and water, either.

Seriously, I use Windows and OOo, and there isn't anything I can't do with them as far as I know. I've never been like "Damn! If I only I was using Word!" Now I know there are probably a few features Word has that OOo doesn't, but chances are, Ability and Star Office don't have them either.

By the way, spell checked with OOo! ;)

They are a threat, at least somewhat. They clog thousands of emails per day with their rubbish, wasting millions of dollars. However, they shouldn't be executed, or put in jail for life or something exorbitant like that. I mean, you *can* get put in jail for copying movies, and that's not a physical threat to anyone, either.

  14. Eh... on UK Makes Spamming a Fineable Offense · · Score: 2, Insightful

All spammers are going to have to do is just set up their servers in 3rd world countries. The UK isn't going to travel to Zaire to shut down a steamboat. Who spams FROM Britain, anyway?

Still, this does make it a lot harder for the very few spammers in Britain to, well, spam. Moving your servers to Zaire isn't exactly easy.

That's not what they think, apparently. Their alleged "reason" is that third-party apps make the network unstable and prone to hacking. I think, though, that one of their hidden reasons is that third-party apps make their product appear inferior. Instead of spending money making theirs better and creating a more secure network... they'd rather just bl0xx0r everyone who doesn't use their stuff.
