    I really like the "if it is not broke dont fix it" group here.

    We are talking about windows 95.. Guess what? It is broke. It has a MTBF of about 180 hours,

    The product is no longer supported by the manufacturer. This means no more security updates. Windows 95 was never a very secure networked computer OS. I am sure that the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, could use some security.

    what we really need is a way for Slashdot editors to see into the past for similar (duplicate) stories. Maybe when they post a similar (duplicate) the color should be grey.

    You assume they will make gpl programs?

    2 points.

    1st point. The army has the resources to reverse engineer any bit of gpl code they want.

    2nd point. If you are familiar with the GPL it only requires supplying the source code to the people you supplied the program to. As a end user you are not required to supply modifications back to the main project. It is only when you distribute the program with your modifications when you are required to distribute your code, and then only to those who recieved the program from you. The only thing that has to be done is to leave the original copyright and credits unmodified.

    NT 3.X 4 used a 16 bit shell. The first true 32 bit system from MS was windows 2000.

    I have served in the armed forces. I fly a flag for July 4th. I love Mom's apple pie. My children are scouts.

    I do not enjoy football. I think your statement about patriotism is misplaced.

    Patriotism is voting not only on big election days, but on primarys as well.
    Patriotism is not littering.
    Patriotism is volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.

    Lots of things are patriotic, football is just a professional sport, like many other professional sports, It does not show Love of country; devotion to the welfare of one's country; the virtues and actions of a patriot; the passion which inspires one to serve one's country.
