I remember Procomm, used it on a 8088 with 2 DS DD Floppys. NO HD. Heck, I even had that on a resume at one time. I don't htink any of th companies new what it was, but it looked good to them.:)
this is why sometimes I still miss theold BBS's. You didn't have to worry about being spyed on because the only person watching was the SYSOP, and they didn't care as long as you didn't try to Hack/Crack it. Dail in, DL what you want, UL something good, logoff. Yea you couldn't get 1.5MB/s DL's but then again, the fiels weren't that big then either. A 56k modem still works great, if you can find any still up. a couple of years ago there were still a few around and they were great. GOD I miss BBS's
Looks like I'll have to keep drivnig my old '81 Datsun 510. No computer, no fuel injection.Just good old fashioned carbuerator. The elecetronics are the radio, lights and alternator. And the car will run with out the alternator as long as you don't use the first two. Oh, and for all the one that will say it's a gas waster, it still get's about 30mpg. that's better than most new cars.
50 Credits! Sheez, tht could of been a matter of being attacked one less time while heading in system. Of course if you had been playing the PC version then that wouldn't have been a problem, as the prices NEVER changed. Was that a glitch or just lazyness on their part? Either way It one of the few games I know of from then that I could put on a P166 and it would still run at almost the same speed and at warp 9 like most of the old games would. great bit of programming there. After all, wing commander and X-wing were based onthe same flight system some 5+ years later.
when will people realize that it's the parents responsibility to control what children play and
also to teach them the difference between fantasy and reality? the games have ratings so parents can make a responsible choice. Most kids know that a game isn't real or should be copied, those that can't figure that out or haven't been taught should play violent games. After all, most stores won't sell games rated "M" to kids. But of course that requires the parent to acctually tell little Johnny NO and back it up. Oh, well I guess that won't happen.
and for those who don't like violent games, don't buy them. No ones forcing them into your house
Maybe I'll finally be able to watch all the reruns of shows in order with out having to deal with schedule changes halfway through the show like cartoon network does DBZ
since when does a mature rating matter when parents buy their kids video games? Most parents don't care what it's rated. They just get junior what he wants so he'll leave them alone. these are the same parents that take their 10 yr old kids and their kids friends to the worst "R" rated movies out there and then go watch a different movie themselves. They don't want to "deprive" the children. Maybe they should teach their kids the difference between fantasy and reality. Nah, you would want to "stifle their creativity"
The marginal cost for deploying a second cable is trivial (the Conference notes said $2B, but I think they'd win out far more than that due to economies of scale - plus they doubled several things like power distribution which wouldn't be necessary for a 'backup cable'. The ribbon itself was estimated at $400M).
4. PROFIT!!!!
Profit will be what truely expands our development of space explarationa and space tech. When companies can make a profit, it will explode. the X-Prize is an excllent example. "win $10millin to do this..." and who's the leader in that? The guy from ID Software, (IE QUAKE III). He's approching it from a prgrammers view point, saving $ and make quick progress. That's where the future of space lies. Private companies that are in it for the $. It may not be the answer everyone wants, bt it's the truth. Just look at computers, they didn't start improving on an exponetial level until the PC market hit and grew. i.e. PROFIT.

Seems that this is limited by the state you live in. So I guess since I'm in Texas I'm screwed, as it wasn't meantioned in the article.
``The distance between what we have and what the free software has is greater today than it's ever been,''
I've never heard a better reason to use Open Office. But i don't think he meant it that way.
Your computer has Vacuum Tubes! Now that's an old machine.

Techies ought to focus on how to take money from the wealthy and decrease the world's dependency on corporations
Hacking bank accounts comes to mind

According to the article, it's going to be written by the same guy who created the series 'Queer As Folk'.
So now the Doctor's sidekick will be a young gay guy intsead of a pretty young girl?
Our freedoms are retained for a little while longer as Big Brother is deported.
I can see it the warnings signs now.
