Where I work we run two StorageTek tape libraries (9740 and an L700). StorageTek has a phenomenal customer support record with us. For the littlest issues with either tape library, they will have a tech on-site that very day.

Combine this with Sun's excellant on-site customer support and it's a match made in heaven.

    But here's the catch...

If manufacturer's create a battery that lasts for years...how is that good business?

Right now, if you use items that suck up a lot of battery power, you have to buy more. That's more profit for the manufacturer.

If they produce a product that you only have to buy ever 3 years, then either the manufacturer will lose profit as less batteries are being sold or the cost of these batteries will be so enormously high that it'll be out of consumer range prices.

Imagine if the razor companies created a blade that lasts for 3 years. Fat chance! Blades are their cash cow!

  8. Temperatures, please! on Hiper Type-R Modular Blue Line 580W PSU Review · · Score: 3, Informative

Yeah, it's a pretty box that has a big number by the word Watt.

I don't know this power supply and it may be solid. But one thing most PSU manufacturer's keep hidden is the temperature that these's PSU are tested at. Some boast Watts of over 500, but at temperatures of 25 C.

The hotter your PC is, the lower the Watts your PSU puts out. It was something I learned before by nVidia's latest videocard.

I went with PC Power and Cooling for the reason that they display the Watts AND the temperature that it runs at.

I got tired of fixing my family's computer from spyware and trogans and whatever seeped through from using IE and Outlook.

Even my girlfriend's family's computers were completely toasted. I cleaned upi their system and taught them why they were catching all these bad things from the internet. i installed Firefox and taught them how to use it properly and how to regularly run spyware removal programs.

If I spend this amount of time teaching them this, it saves me many hours later from having to re-clean their systems.

If Microsoft released applications that protected users from all these intrusions, then I wouldn't care which programs they used.
