Yeah but sometimes you need those meetings so the independant ass tekkie or programmer is on the same page as the rest of the god damn department. And in a organisation with mutliple site and staff everywhere, it's a good thing to get one of those once in while, kind of like bonding team members.
Too many cuts productivity i agree, but no meeting at all just gets everyone to have personnal agenda and this is counter-productive.

It strange that people dont say that about Microsft Wndows Media Player because it does exaclty the same thing when you play songs it will browse through you selection and show info on artist if it's available.
They may not keep the info but they sure browse your playlist

I found that in my company women are the ones who get add software installed more often than men,,,just get on the cute side and they'll install anything colorfull and pretty.
So if it works as a screensaver that means that all user will only be able to work with it if they do nothing for about hum.. let's say 10 minutes...then they'll have about less that half a second to click in the window to work in linux,,,,then wait another ten minute to get back in.
one of the problem i see and am still experiencing is that different department like enginners just buy software propose to them by their supplier and went it's installed, then the IT dpt is called because it doesnt work.
We have software that i know nothing of and have no formation and thos different dpt just thinks because your in IT that you know all intricate ways to install it and have a manual up your butt.
One word "censorship". the less they can view or chat with, the better government protects it's point of view while limiting it's citizen to,,,,nothing.
for every dollar lost they have to sell 20 times the same ammount for them to get their money back unless their profit margin are near 50% wich is rarely the case if we look at wallmart or other big discount store. If a 100$ prodcut gets stolen and they only make 5 $ profit on it they will have to sell 20 of that same item just to be even.
The impact is huge, no matter how you see it and it's the regular customer who pays for this. Cheaper product with higher margin.
