He's suggesting to apply the knowlegde of patching what you have and exploiting it at the maximum of it's limit, i'm o.k with that but there is also a downside to a company wanting more from it's failing equipment and at some point it needs to invest in it for the long term and not try to patch it up to the cheapest technology just to save a couple of buck! I know , my company was doing this till it got bought buy a bigger one! And it didnt want to invest so pc were put to replace servers etc..etc.. 2 years ago we still had win95 installed and i found a windows 3.11, ser had pentium 133 and they were doing Office access and using huge database....took the average computer half an hour to 45 minutes to generate one report,and while waiting for it, they were doing almost nothing.If i could calcualte all the wasted hours of those users,i'm sure the company would have paid for better computers and faster server to meet the demands.
So if a company wants to save money, it better think about all the downside of not upgrading to better system rather than stick with shit that makes the user do less work!
Dont get me wrong, a good evaluation of the needs of a company is in order here, but doing the total opposite of what was done in the 90's is no way to go! a just middle is the answer!
If evry MAC adress of all the entire world are different,,how the hell do you plan on changing a MAC adress? It's like saying i want the same adress as my neighbors! Will it not make hadrware confusion (i know the odds of changing a MAC adresse and someone having the same one is pretty low but still)

Light Saber are unrealistic but it's OK! spaceship making noises in space, IMPOSSSIBLE, but would you want a battle with no sound except the breathing of the spectators in the theather.Explosion with no oxygen , still impossible, who cares.The only thing i dont want them to put in a sci-fi movie IS a totally improbable thing like breathing in space with no helmet on or spacesuit!
If you want reality, rent appollo or space odyssey 2001!

Here in Quebec for example, when you want to rent an appartment, the law says that they cant ask for you social security number to check you out! but if you dont give it , they'll have an excuse for you like "Someone was there before you"
