I concur. Ati combined with Via is a nightmare. While I'm sure VIA is somewhat responsible for my problems (logitech webcam, nooo thank you. SBLive... if I'm in a good mood!)
And my problems with ATI drivers and this is hell. Latest *supported* drivers and software, load vid in... play a bit, crash.
I've been told going back to 7.1 MMC might help, but do you think ATI offers it?
Incidentally, ATI also does funky things with OEM parts, generally releasing sub par OEM cards which are underclocked (thanks for telling me that in advance!).
Not to nitpick, but language evolves. The use of 'Piracy' is now perfectly justified when applied to people who steal copyrighted work.
Heck, maybe we should find a new name for Computers?
In fact, I believe 'Cracker' really refers to a flour based food product, and this horrible misuse in the computer world serves nothing more then to dilute the good name of this noble food product!
I just thought I'd throw my two cents in. Personally, I *loved* the dub of Cowboy Bebop (it and Trigun are the only shows I actually watch the dub over the sub). I found the characters well acted and the translation near impecable.
And in cases like Trigun where so much depends on voice inflection, I thought the excellent english Dub did it great justice. (ironic that Pioneer brought us the great Trigun dub as well as the *shudder* tenchi dub.)
Current DVDs at 480p normally take up about 3-4Gb. with more storage space available we could easily more to higher resolution movies. Imagine having film resolution on a disc...
The Gamecube doesn't support HDTV resolutions? You mean that "progressive scan" feature will work fine and dandy on my existing tv?
Good, because I thought all those newfangled tvs were just repackaged existing Tube ones... now if only someone can tell me how to enable 480p at home, I'll be happy.
On a somewhat seperate note, here in Canada the Nintendo64 Launch data was broken by one day when a major retailer (without permission) started selling units earlier. Rather then fight Superstore in court, Nintendo just had all retailers sell the system one day early.
Nope, no requirements at all along those lines. It can install into its own partition (so helpful) and can also install onto a FAT partition (not sure about other partition types it can use). I can't tell you the number of times I've deleted my Linux partition without thinking, only to kill Lilo and booting with it. XOSL has saved my a few times to say the least;)
Umm... did you just say vote *alliance*... the party that perfectly emulates Canada by having a faction that wants to seperate. please.
As for Chretien, he was being level headed... as in not charging in without information (unlike the US, who has deposed so many governments for no reason other than they wanted better oil prices...)
Don't be rude. When i actually had a decent cable connection (I now use DSL because our cable provider switched and went downhill... speeds were speaking ~40k down) I got 1 MegaBYTE/S from Adobe.
As a side note, Initially vancouver only had one T3 connecting it to seattle/the US. To say the least we outgrew that line before it was even installed. Today I believe there are multiple OC lines connecting Vancouver to the US as well as a good routing system in Canada itself.
I have little sympathy for civilians that cheer at the loss of relatively innocent people's lives
So, what are we going to do.. bomb them and look stonefaced? Shoot any american who is happy when we bomb them... or is it now allright for americans do be happy when all those "Terrorist civilians" get blown up?
Personally I would find it hard to have any loss of life from a unmanned spacecraft...

Or, of course, we could just laugh at the jokes. (Or would that be to simple?)

You mean Star Ballz?

For example, Sony loses approx USD$100 on each PS2 sold.
Yes, which are generally considered good. Unlike the odd movies which have such shining gems as Shatner Directing and Star Trek I: The Epic
In other words, we are the product. We are sold to the advertisers. Nifty, no?
Isn't the point of the ads so that they can pay their hosting cost when something like a slashdotting happens?
No, actually, they don't. On each console they sell, they take a loss of ~150 USD

Well, unless in Canada. In Canada DSL service is $40 (CDN, ~28US) a month for 1.5Mbs down/ 640kbit up
What about Canada... you know that country Bush forgot to mention because "Canada is like a brother to us..."
Wicked! Personally, I'm a big fan of AMD processors. And, judging from personal experience, AMD will easily beat intel to the Fusion mark...
Why am I getting Deja Vu when reading this?
well, looking at porn is completely legal... of course it depends whose hardware you are using and what your network use contract says.
DivX is NOT MPEG 4. Divx 3.11 was hack of an MS release of an early mpeg 4 codec. DivX 4 is a completely new (partly mp4 based.. i think) codec.
MPEG 4 IS NOT DIVX.
Please, tell me how this is hypocritical... Is it that it is against the GPL? It Isn't... GPL work is copyrighted too... so how is this hypocritical?
