I'm sorry, have you actually used win2K, or are you just assuming that it's win95 SP27. Win2k is stable. Very stable. I have seen 2 blue screens using, and both were do to a bad driver. It may not be as stable as every *nix varient out there, but it's close.
Also, comparing the stability of 9x to 2k, it is obvious that microsoft is working on making a better, more stable product (even if part of that is simply switching home users to the NT kernel... that said, 2k is leaps and bounds ahead of NT4).
Please, in the future don't just blindly flame Windows and MS, if they made products as bad as you potray then they wouldn't be in the position they are today... good (evil?) bussiness tactics can only go so far! ------------------------------------

"Sega and Sony don't cheat their third-parties like Nintendo does. Period."
Sony recently threatened retailers to pull all X-Box advertisement or risk not getting ANY PS2's. And I think its quite possible that Sony is leaning heavily on square to have them develop only for them.
"The number one reason for the N64 cartridge format was a combination of control and greed."
Actually, load time was a major factor. Control, sure control is an issue, but that is mainly because Nintendo has had up until now very tight quality control. As for price, i can't comment on that.
As for the X-box giving the developers the choice, do you really think EA and Konami et al will release regionless games? Heck no then they would have to have simultaneous language releases or risk having everyone import.
As for price, I agree that there really isnt enough knowledge on either console to determine it, but it will probably end up having both N and MS eat a substantial amount of loss.

Forcing NES game developers to be EXCLUSIVE to the NES console, a policy that completely destroyed Sega's Master System
Ok, admitedly this was pretty stupid. But what about Sony and Square... notice how the FF10 release has been delayed to coincide with the gamecube launch? Not to mention that judging by past performance is never good, look at the dreamcast, it is an amazing system... nothing near the failure of the Sega CD/32X
Dropping 1st party software prices on the N64 while charging licensees an arm and a leg.
And Sony and Sega don't? They need to to make money (well perhaps they could be a little cheaper). But look at it this way, a PS2 costs around $400 US to manufacture.
N64's outdated cartridge format.
Once again, this may not have been the best decision, but arguably, they had their reasons. Load time sucks and CDs are a haven for long load times. Another, less noticeable benefit is both the technological and creative envelope the catridge has pushed. Because of its size restrictions developers have had to do amazing in-game cinemas as well as pull off amazing feats of compression (Resident Evil 2 anyone? All the FMV of the PSX version on one dinky ole catridge).
GC's Mini-DVD discs at *one-third* the capacity of normal DVDs.
But wait, one third the capacity is still over a Gig.That's still a lot of space. Not to mention that by using minidiscs they pretty much crush the internet piracy problem... or do you have a proprietary minidisc burner?
Forcing region protection in games so that imports can't be played without modifying your console and voiding the warranty. Others are guilty of this, but Microsoft isn't.
We don't know if microsoft is or isn't. And the sole difference between a N64 US cart and a Jap cart is size, and a system can be easily be made to play imports. Not to mention that i seem to remember playing some super famicon games on my SNES, so really Sony is the guilty party here.
I mean Nintendo is no saint, but neither is Sony or MS or Sega. But lets face it, the gamecube is the only next gen console to do only games.
It is also worth noting that the GC will retail at approximately $200 US, while currently the Xbox is slated to retail for around $400! Also, Nintendo has little choice but to make launch, if they don't they know their screwed. ------------------------------------
Here all along i thought i was going to get to watch a Ranma movie on the big screen here in Canada... Then i read the headline again. Damn you/. for getting my hopes up! ------------------------------------
Are you kidding? I work at a game store. We are still actively taking in PSX's, and usually get a call a day about the ORIGINAL PSX. Normally, once weve bought a used one, we can't keep in on our shelves for more than 24 hours! ------------------------------------
Well, at least for Win2k, it sets up ICS as a DHCP server, but you can also set up manually. I suspect 98 is the same thing in that it does do DHCP but can also be configured manually, just setting the server to be the gateway and dns
on another note, i've found that winroute is an excellent ICS program. ------------------------------------
Of course Deja won't get sued, i mean, that would be plain ludicrous...
That said, the way things are going i wouldn't be that surprised if Deja was sued... and @Home and any ISP with a news server... really quite sad... but, then again deja is breaking the law if you agree with the courts decision...
Of course i'll laugh my ass off if it turns out the MPAA and/or their ISP have a private server... that would be the ultimate irony, not to mention a gem if it were to come out in court!. ------------------------------------
Keep in mind that Connectix only *emulates* the hardware over different software. It doesn't decompile and recompile the code so it can run natively. These are two very different things.
But, this also makes things like WINE and ULTRHLE quite legal by the same precedent... in other words connectix has made emulation legale (although arguements will be raised about the legality of Roms... what this means is create a device that reads a catridge and your back on the legal side).
As this/. article pointed out a while back, the first few episodes are available online. If you don't want to click the link, they are at starblazers.com... of course Ranma would be really nice to see... but then it would be edited heavily... Well Eva would be nice too.... ah well, i can dream.
Granted, for graphics programs this would be good, however, as usable as a sylus keyboard a la some handhelds, while allowing programs to function has some obvious problems. Keyboards are useful because you can type quickly on them, tapping with a pen device just isnt that fast... regardless of what your doing.
This brings the issue of having an addon keyboard... all well and good but now you have something else to lug around... sure its not a major inconvinience but it still is a bother.
I guess my main point is perhapse this is better suited to a graphics only product... a pad with LCD and photoshop and a 20 gig hard drive... that i can see, but having a laptop with touch key pad just doesn't appeal to me.
It sounds great, and would be for word processing, but consider applications that are mapped to use keyboards... 3d Modelling, Spredsheets, hell even games, all would have to be re-written if there wasn't a keyboard. Heck even your OS, web browser and email client would need re-writing... no Slashdot surfing for one.
Still a good idea, and one step closer to having the Newton back.
ReBoot was basically the first computer animated show. Before Toy Story premiered, Reboot was showing in Canada. I think its been over 5 years now... think about that. Pretty impressive animation for 5 years ago. Sure FF is great, but then again it is on a movie budget. Comparing ReBoot to it is like comparing Star Trek: TOS to one of the movies. Of course the movie is better. Think before slamming it please.
On a side note i find the show quite humorous. Each time i watch an episode over a catch more jokes that i missed the last time. The average episode has dozens of jokes that most people won't get on the first or even second viewing. A lot of it is pure genius, and the story matured with its viewers (season 3 being geared more towards adults).
First of all there is no PG equivalent for games. Right now its either Anyone can play it or "This is as bad of porn. Stay Away".
As for PG, it has become a rating almost akin to G. PG means its acceptable. PG-13 tends to mean its acceptable for anyone around 11 and up.
The problem with current ratings is that they are both highly subjective and constantly evolving. Quite a few R rated movies from twenty years ago would be rated PG today. As such, it should really be a parents responsibility to decide what is acceptable. What would be far more appropriate is content ratings on movies and games, so that it is the parents decision.
As a final note, it can be seen that the current rating systems are flawed as Saving Private Ryan is accesible to children (with parents consent)yet SoF isn't... doesn't make much sense to me. And as long as ratings systems make little sense, they will continue to be ignored, a la ESRB.
Is a channel devoted to classic radio show. The Shadow, The Lone Ranger, Superman, they were great and so engrossing... really let you appreciate the impact that sound can have (and the amazing imagery that can be provided by it). I would definetly pay stuff that just wouldnt have a large local market but would be feasable for a national one (ie : Radio Shows)... then again an Anime Music Channel would be nice too...
Well i guess all our complaining about the quicktime remark paid off. I guess we can say that the bias is gone. Yay. I for one like QuikckTime, but what really pleases me is the fact that quality -- regardless of platform/format -- is being brought to our attention!
On one hand he represents a fight against the "old media rules", yet on the other hand he breaks the unwritten laws that he is trying to get written. Quite Sad indeed.

By the way, did anyone catch the A&E special?
Apparently YTV will be airing the reboot movies.
All i can say is great. It was an excellent series and i can't wait to see these movies.
