Obviously the person who created this was a lonely Linux lover. Say that three times-Lonely, Linux, Lover. Anyway in that case GIMP would have been used not Photoshop.
So the secret to acceptance of OSS is a stuffed penguin?
Yay, a penguin, it's cute. What does that have to do with the use of software? I'll tell you. It shows the intelligence of the people buying into this.
Look at what the software has to offer...Please!!!
I'm no Microsoft supporter but you can not blame them for this one. Someone had to install a program (virus) to become infected. The spread of this virus and its variants are a result of ignorant computer users who happen to be on the Windows platform.
Blaster on the other hand was a result of a security flaw in Windows.
How about you use what YOU like. I have used both Opera and Mozilla and I decided to use Mozilla because I liked it's interface. Just because Mozilla is OSS does not mean it is better. (Go ahead and troll me:)
Whenever several nations decide to make decisions the process is slow and compromises must be made. This is not new.
The mission to Mars is suppose to be an international effort. Great, we'll never get there!! Sometimes we have to do it alone. I may cost more but we will have it our way with no compromises.
you must look at every situation. Here there was a possible threat to the customer's health/life. If a store knew that they sold me a defective/dangerous product I expect them to notify me. This has gone on for years in other areas.
Car manufactures are required to notify customers of a defect in their product. You will get a letter in the mail informing you. I know these two products are extremely different but I believe safety often trumps privacy.
Thank you!!!! Finally someone who understands politicians. As George Carlin once said, "If honesty was introduced into american politics, the whole system would colapse."
I'm glad to see the creator of Linux is realistic rather than ranting and raving about Linux. I too believe Linux is far from being ready for the desktop. As a server OS, Linux is wonderful if configured and maintained properly.
Right now Linux is at the beginning of its desktop life much like Windows 1.0 was so long ago. I predict Linux will mature quicker than Windows has due to many factors; open source contributors and assistance from corporations such as IBM, SUN, and Novell are the factors I see.
If the HP iPod does not support WMA then what is the difference between an Apple iPod and the HP version? Is there a difference or is it just a rebadge.
The real problem with voting, and everything else for that matter, is that as a society we can not wait. We are no longer patient. There is not perfect method to count votes. Electronic and human error will always exist. I'm not suggesting to hand count every vote. What I want is a paper trail. That's it.
Microsoft could have included these "features" long ago. I do, however, believe this is a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. With these new improvements companies like Symantec will cry foul. If Microsoft didn't improve their product we (slashdotters) will rip them a new one. This service pack seems to be a step in the right direction, at least.
in the way some special interest groups use it to further their agenda. Instead of boycotting or protest these groups simply try to censor by using the courts. Some of these groups spend millions trying to sensor individuals, groups, and companies. It is ironic that many of these groups supporting sensorship are called civil liberties groups.
1. Buy computers from Apple at discounted price to create supercomputer.
2. ???
3. Profit!!!
Computing at the speed of light. Oh, wait, bottlenecks. Damn you serial ATA Hard Drive!!!

search my home without a search warrant signed by a judge. Oh wait, I forgot, the DMCA. My fault. I better go encrypt my files.

(Slams head on desk)
There is no reason for me to live. I have seen everything now. Goodbye cruel world!!!!
Really, what does this prove or disprove? Nothing. I'm sure these guys are having fun but what is next, Linux running on a Timex watch?
I three finger salute you for your influence on my day to day computing.
OK, what can I do with it??
Who cares???
Need I say more?

I'll show you my code if you show me your's.
from the article "...more than 2,600 students had registered for the Napster 2.0 service, which comes free with their tuition."
Napster must be getting something out of this. As a college student I know that the words free with tuition are a load of bull****.

can it run Linux? How about is the platform any good or what is the quality of graphics?
(Just wanted to know if anyone can help me here. Can this machine run Linux?)

SCO? Anyone? The only difference is that SCO will never raise any money!!!
