I tend to agree----the government is more of a plutocracy than a democracy.
The two party system consists of limousine liberals and limousine conservatives equally concerned with keeping themselves in power (and limousines) while most of the country hopes the paycheck will last to the next one. (if there is one!)
Are you part of a contract or collective bargaining arrangement with that 3 month requirement stipulated?
From what I am aware, there are no legal requirements for notice to your employer of your intention to leave.
Some employers offer carrots---e.g. will pay out vacation/sick in states where it is not mandated, and if you do not want to burn bridges, it is a good idea to give at least two weeks notice. However, most employees are considered "at will" and do not have to give more notice than "I quit and wont be coming back after lunch".
Employers are required to give 60 days notice under the WARN act if they intend to lay off more than 30% of the workforce, but an at will employee can be sent home without any notice (which I'm sure many of us have experienced!).
Very good point. I do not play WOW anymore since I do not have the time to invest in farming at lvl 60 or multi-hour instance runs.
However, I do play DDO a few hours on the weekend primarily to socialize with friends that have moved far away and otherwise would not be able to interact with in a group setting.
You definitely will miss it somewhat, but at the same time it becomes more fun when you get a chance to play since you wont burn out and the games take longer to complete.
Besides, given a choice between playing with the kids and gaming, the kids are more fun (and get me to be more active--which is a feat in itself:)
Im in a similar situation (albeit with two kids now). I dropped out of WOW because of the time commitments needed at the high levels to run instances.
I now play DDO on occasion with friends late night friday if I have the energy to stay awake, and sneak in an hour or so of oblivion when I can.
I figure once the offspring are older, I can go back to more time gaming with them if they can stand playing with the old man and they have the inclination to play games at all.
However, I will try (and most likely fail) to insist that sedentary game time be earned with activity so they can avoid the example of their parents who are now paying for their lack of activity when younger:)
When you say few--you mean oil company execs correct?
You'll have to get the terminology right to join in with the AARP crowd.
Dinner at 4pm = Early bird special.
Ill meet you there in 5 years!

If they are not going to make a profit from the customer, then at whose expense?
But I agree there should be a profit with margin influenced by fair competition.
If I remember correctly, didnt he "win" when no one else wanted the job?

Yep, and even then, within a country, the laws vary by state/province region etc.
It's a full time job just keeping track of them!

Interestingly, there are some studies where company that take a risk and "give" to their employees wind up "getting" in return and realize a higher profitibility.

The issue seems to be that those with the personality required to take that risk do not often wind up in the necessary decision making roles.

He wont be a manager for long---at my worksite, they promoted him to VP-CIO.

That guy is bringing a knife.

Well, hopefully it will work--every hour they are cheating at games, they are not adding to the gene pool.
Heh,
Unfortunately, anyone who gets this reference probably has no mod points.

Wow, I didnt realize that he lived that long!!
Guess you would have to live a long time to kill that many people alone.
true, but its only a prediction, I have been known to be very very wrong.
actually, you arent the only one in the guild that is bailing the game or guild.
I predict that within two months, the remaining guild will be absorbed into another or will be gone through attrition.
