Does that mean it will have slave trading? That would be strange. I guess you could ignore that piece of history for the sake of the game. That would be a little strange, also.
All living things are an expression of a single universal consciousness which permeates every corner of infinity. Each individual expression creates its own independent "reality" which, in turn, is recycled back into the infinite pool of reality and possibility.
I get the feeling they just want to spite HardOCP, so they've decided to really go for it. If not for all the negative exposure, they probably would have skipped out with the investor money a long time ago.
Slashdot is about stuff that is interesting and/or entertaining for 'nerds' to discuss...with a mildly journalistic slant. Period.
Try not to twist the tagline too much. Take it for what it is...a mostly meaningless tagline that has a nice ring to it with some interesting irony and subtle truth thrown in for good measure.
BTW is it just me, or does it seem in poor taste for News outlets like FOX and CNN to focus on possible American casualties when these kind of natural disasters happen?
It may be poor taste, but the vast majority of barbaric americans (of which I am one) seem to eat it up. Fox and CNN are just giving the viewers what they want so they can get their $$$. The real poor taste comes in with the citizenry and the politicos. It's all the "power of pride" bumper stickers...the "you're with us or you're against us" mentality.
What they don't realize is that we're all in this together, and the only thing worth being proud of is being alive and human.
...and the human part of that only lasts until we find out that we're not alone in the infinity of the cosmos.
Everyone you care about? Meaning every other human on the planet? Or, you don't care about other humans? You can always find new people to care about. Quit whining and just live.
His opposition to these groups is not on the grounds that they are Christians. His opposition to them is on different grounds.
Do you really think this matters? Do you think God gives a rat's ass? If God's people are in jeapardy, I really don't think he/she/it cares about the misguided intentions that put them in that position. Just my take.
God's "word" (the bible?) is very easy to misinterpret, and you can be sure that it has been many times...and further...that much suffering has resulted from such misinterpretations.
Gee...so, because you have a moderate and sane position of the human role in god's plan, we should just ignore all of the fundamentalist nutcases that don't think like you? Actually, I'm wondering, why on earth are you ignoring them? They're giving you a bad name.

Doom Movie Update

Seems that the ID guys don't want Doom the movie to be like Doom the game. However he does say that he wants it to be based on the doom universe. Still, I don't see how super-viruses and no space-marines are a part of the doom universe:(
Todd Hollenshead is the id spin-meister. Don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth. Spinning PR yarns is his job, and he's really good at it.
Regarding the super-virus idea... Who's to say that's not what was causing all of the problems in the doom games. It wasn't ever specified, but couldn't that just be because it was never discovered? Maybe the only reason the hero got a chance to be a hero was because he was naturally resistant to the same virus that drove everyone else insane and made them mutate. Maybe all of the monsters are really just a bunch of fuckin pushovers and the hero just so happened to be resistant to the virus. Blah blah blah blah blah blah.... Who cares...it's just a movie.
NASA may not be the future of space-technology development, but there are enough great minds working there that seems ridiculous to just turn away from it. Ideas like this one could help to shape the future role of NASA into something more fitting of a governmental entity. Even if that means that NASA becomes merely a guiding force for providing direction rather than a driving force that provides results.
I think it's possible without resorting to Amish-style technophobia
I think what you described is much worse than Amish-style technophobia. Meaningful tradition vs. paranoia-based-protest-idealism?

reality - infinite...
possibility - also infinite...
Further:
All living things are an expression of a single universal consciousness which permeates every corner of infinity. Each individual expression creates its own independent "reality" which, in turn, is recycled back into the infinite pool of reality and possibility.
Yes, that's the american way. I'm glad you've got that down.
Traditionally, the purpose of news is to inform, however.
Repent and you shall be strung up by your toes.
I get the feeling they just want to spite HardOCP, so they've decided to really go for it. If not for all the negative exposure, they probably would have skipped out with the investor money a long time ago.
Now it's personal.
For the lesser minds:
I was implying that I thought it deserved to be modded up as funny.

I'm with you... In fact, I'll give you a call next time I'm visiting your area.
Hopefully, the building you're in won't collapse and prevent you from opening the vault door or making it out of the building once it's over.
Displacement is more powerful than you might think...
Haha! I've never wanted mod points so bad.
Stay in school.
Wow... Thanks for the inside peek... I'm in awe just pondering your words. Can't imagine what it was like to see it first-hand.

Come on... Where's my reg free link, you bastards? :)

I enjoyed it immensely. I can still conjure up some of the theme music in my head. I'll be dragging my wife out to this if it comes near me...

Yes, I assumed.. I knew I was doing it. It was a gamble. My mistake.

That's not so bad. I was picturing an Amish-style community based on such ideals because of the Amish reference you made. My mistake...
That's a mean stereotype you've formulated, there...
