I REALLY wish that check box was there, it would reduce the amount of time its going to take me to vote by an order of magnitude this year.

Personally, I also think the "party labels" should be removed from the ballot entirely. Going in an checking the box labeled "Party X" is NOT voting.

I wonder if HP is taking into account the vast volumes of data that are currently migrating (or being replicated) to Cloud Storage, like the Nirvanix SDN and their various competitors.

Presumably, the storage required will double or triple as companies migrate single copies of data into the cloud where it is stored multiple times. Even if larger corporations wind up using cloud storage for nothing other than backup/archival, the amounts of data stored still grow exponentially.

I'd wager that the frequent flying business people, who are the bread and butter of the airline industry are silent only because they lack the time to write the letter saying how much they love it.

John Q. and Suzy Public need to shut the hell up until they are top tier elite on any given airline. Let's wait and see how much they cry when all the flight prices double, and they just can't fly anymore 'cause that's coming.

    My 2 cents.

  6. This actually makes sense... on Harrison Ford Turned Down Han Solo Role · · Score: 1

I saw an interview years back (I believe it was Inside the Actor's Studio, though it might have been a Barbara Walters interview) where Ford said that he thought the role of Han Solo was very one-dimensional and at this point in his acting career he would have turned down the original offer, and would in the future turn down that role.

When the host questioned him about playing Indiana Jones though, Ford replied quickly, "In a New York minute". The pair then went on to discuss the Indy franchise.

I found this write up of it on a 1998 page which probably recalls it slightly better than I do.:

HEARD HERE: Although Harrison Ford has admitted he'd return as Indiana Jones 'in a New York minute,' his affection for Star Wars' Han Solo, the character that first made him a star, is considerably less. On whether he'd reprise the role, Ford confided, 'Ummm...I didn't find Han Solo to be as interesting a character as some others that I've played since. I would have to, of course, out of respect and loyalty, I wouldn't deign to deny it at the moment. But it seems to me unlikely that it would be a character attractive enough for me to want to play again.'

  11. Truly Episode IV? on Classic Star Wars Trilogy Finally on DVD · · Score: 1

So here is the REAL question... when the Original release hit the theaters, it didn't say "Episode IV" or "A New Hope" anywhere, not in the scroll text, not on the posters... it was just "Star Wars". The movie did so well, that Lucas decided to add that in in 1981, and release the "Episode IV: A New Hope" version once he realized that the budgets for his sequels were in the bag.

    So I ask you this:

IV or no IV? If it's there, or says "A New Hope" anywhere, it STILL isn't the original.

From IMDB Alternate versions for SW:

When the original theatrical version was first released, it was simply titled Star Wars. The opening crawl was changed to "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" during the 1981 re-release. According to Sterling Hedgpeth, Lucasfilm film archivist: "I found a box with all the positive elements for the 'revised' opening crawl, and the assorted trim boxes are dated from October through December 1980. This, then, is consistent with the view that Episode IV: A New Hope was added for the first time to the opening crawl for the April 10, 1981 re-release."

Here in Vegas, Celine Dion sells out her show every night at $100-plus per ticket and would sell out every night at $150 per ticket.

The law that I really wish would be passed is one recognizing that the airwaves/spectrum running over the United States belongs to the people and that the FCC is merely there for *ahem* "fair" regulation of them.

The instant trickle-down effect of that realization would be that anything broadcast on our airwaves has immediately been placed in the public domain, and is free for public use and reproduction.

Further thought, if the artists would band together and oust RIAA, then their music could be free anyway and they could make a mint on their concerts. This would also eliminate crappy artists (Ashlee Simpson) from sticking around so damn long because they wouldn't be making any money.

The Video that the below-troll references was definitly on display. However, Sony also threw together a 45 minute or so demo/product spec thingy (off the show floor) that highlighted the Cell processors that the system will have and how the developers can choose to assign these cycles were they see fit, as opposed to the 360 platform where you have X dedicated cycles for something like T and L, X cycles for pixel shaders and the such, and so on. It was really quite fascinating. They didn't have a working model there (cry), but they had much more indepth detail on how it all went together and some deeper demo footage as well.

The non-core version is still selling for more than $500 in a few auctions.

We all know that the PS3 will blow the doors off the 360 (and some of us saw this @ CES), so where's the problem with the $500?

The simple truth is that if it hits at $500, and you want it, you'll buy it. And if there is a shortage, and you still want it, you'll pay $1000 for it on Ebay.
