    Israeli law has very clear (though recent) laws about computer related crimes. It is almost certain that the PI's will do time for this. One reason for this is that they also hacked into the police computers to get info on the investigation. Big mistake...

    You could try doing that. What will happen is that you will look for 1000 years for the correct "bit flipping sequence" that will generate the same hash as the original file. comsider for example the time it takes to go over all possible flippings of 80 bits ...

    If you flipped 1 bit of a message it doesnt means that another single flip will 'fix' the hash. A hash function is built exactly to prevent this kind of simple attacks.

    This is the hole point of a hash algorithm like SHA, it is supposed to be extremely hard to find two messages that hash to the same value.

    Did you consider using version 0.7 of FireFox (I forgot the name they gave it...maybe HyperTutrtle ?) It worked much better then 0.8 (TBE didnt fuck thing up )

    The government will never allow an encryption scheme that they can't break if they need to.

    What if some terrorist group code their own encryption scheme , that the FBI cant break ? Its not that hard to do.

    Let's say you send an encrypted (1024 bit key, just to be safe...) message to a guy that is suspected of being a terrorist. The FBI will come to your house, search it, take your computer to their labs, etc...

    Sounds like fun ???

    Actually, the old testament contains detailed instructions on how to build the 'Mishcan' (the first temple) . Its a very technical piece, and quite readable . Some people even went ahead and built a small model of it, based on that text. Pretty impressive for a text written about 2500 years ago.

    This is only because no one wrote an "outlook-express" style mail client that runs on linux. I would be very easy to write such an application that will enable you to run attachments by clicking on them.

    If I were using linux, and someone would send me an exectuable file in an attachment, and I would run it. I would get infected. This is not windows fault - its just ignorence (and bad email clients).

    Yes, but a man that wrote a whole OS by himself must have serious trouble working in a team.

    Yes, there is a hebrew localized Office (as well as all other MS products). Yes, it is being pirated. But eventually people like to use legit software (where is this world coming to ? ), and if they can get Open Office for free they will give it a try.
