You worked eight hours a day before the net came along, so what is the problem. Your company is paying you to work. Those eight hours are theirs. The look at hotmail and espn is their bandwidth that they are paying for. Get a faster connections at home. God, the morals here are terrible. "Who cares if I steal from my company?" Six years ago we used calculators and a pad of paper and pencil to do our jobs. We moved to computers. All that information didn't neccesarily make us more productive. You still have to have face time with customers and deal with them. Computers are a conveinence not the do all answer to everything.

I'm going to rant because it bugs the crap out of me. I know companies save money and the environmentalists are happy because not so many tree get get killed, but give me a damn book. I don't want a pdf file that I can barely read. I don't want to print out 300 pages on my printer. At least make the documentation available in printed form if a person asks for it. We just purchased a new server and there is an option for printed docs. It was an extra $59 dollars but hell, I'll pay it. Just so I can have a book in front of me when I'm working on the server. HP used to be great about their docs, now it is basically the huge fold-out "How to connect your printer guide" poster. Sorry about the rant, but like I said this bugs the hell out of me.

Check his language against other reviewers and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Clear out the enemy in the house/cellar

The German's even used them against Allied ships as they neared the beaches. The tank, next to the helicopter, is one of the most revolutionary inventions in warfare's history.

I've got to admit. I love my digital cable/modem. And I have seen no indication of a price increase. I pay $24.95 a month for 512k. I have had no service outages in the eight months that I've had it. I also love the Video-On-Demand service. It is so sweet that when I want to watch a movie there is a pretty good chance its on either pay-per-view or video on demand. And it costs less than driving to blockbuster to rent a most likely Blockbuster edited version of a movie. I ordered the service on tuesday and it was installed thursday afternoon. If you can get the digital cable/internet service in your area, I recommend doing it.

By the way, Southwestern Bell said it would be eight months before DSL could be installed. I have a friend who has been waiting for a year and half for his installation.

Tymenet rocked. One of the easiest providers to hack at the time. Once you were in you could pretty much explore any companies network that connected to them. Either the AP or Reuters were using them at the time and you could view wire stories (and edit them if that was your thing) before they were actually edited and put out on the wire. I belive Byte and Compuserve portaled off there too. There were a ton of systems on there. That was back when Bill Landreth(sp) had just gotten busted for the Inner Circle and wrote that great book about it. Some of his methods still worked up to a few years.
