"Note: Yahoo! Music does not permit copying or transferring music files to other users."

It seems to me that burnable copy is still DRMed, it just doesn't expire like the subscription copies. Which, at 99 cents, is the same as the itunes music store.

So what's to stop people from just filling up gas canisters, instead of directly into their cars? I'd do it, if it saves me a few hundred a year.

And also, the article didn't say if this GPS system only charges for miles traveled on public roads. My Grandfather's pickup never leaves his property, except to go to the gas station. Should he be charged for the "wear and tear" he puts on his own gravel?

    5) friend's CDs = 12 songs = 1%

Yes, every song on my ipod was obtained legally. I don't think the ipod is going to be overtaken, because of the iTMS. I have bought more music from there, in the last year, than anywhere else, over the course of my entire life. And I wouldn't have bought nearly as much if it weren't for my ipod.

This is making record companies a LOT of money.

so, because artists get a very small share of the profits, we should stop paying for the media at all, so that the artists make no money, just so we can screw over the people who take most of the profits. good idea.

yes, and other grants have much fewer restrictions than that. I doubt that the grant said "use this money to give students 20GB ipods." It was probably more along the lines of "for buying computer equipment," or had no restrictions, (some do) in which case the money could have been put to better use than buying iPods.
