Amen, I finally got my wireless network up and running securely with the proper (at least the best I can do with a consumer grade device) security.

Windows really pisses me off, SP2 Crashed my computer after I tried to update. ARGHGHDFHZ, anyway, as soon as everything is running smoothly, Guess how many networks I see (just using windows utility) - five, including mine.

Guess How many of the 5 were secured: Mine

Guess how many of the remaining networks windows would log me into automatically, if I chose that option: All of them!

Guess how many I could use their broadband connection on - 3.

This was done w/o any hacker type intent or anything else, windows would automaticaly search for any BSSID and log onto the strongest.

Of course my BSSID is turned off, so people can't see me w/o a little effort. I'm thinking about posting a note at the mailboxes in my subdivision which says:

    • If your wireless network is named linksys, MSHOME, netgear, or INTERNET. you are giving away free interent services to everybody in the neighborhood, and they can enter your computer, install viruses, steal your personal data and financial information and even cause a visit from the FBI, if someone uses your connection for FILESHARING. After I stumbled on to Google via some friends at Georgia Tech, never looked back. I try one or two now, on occasion, but can they really say duopoly? Yahoo may have members et al, but for searching, nothing I've tried comes close to Google yet.

Of course the whole media blitz thing is a huge factor. This goes along with my point that there is a huge cycle of crap going around and around, feeding off of itself.

"Most people realize that tinfoil reflects electromagnetic energy, which is correct" - Said Dr. M. Day Shamalan. "However, what they fail to realize is that the tinfoil only covers approximately 60% of the area which leads to the brain.

Dr. Shamalan goes on to say that if the harmful rays are coming from an angle which allows penetration from below the neckline, the tinfoil hat actually MAGNIFIES the harmful rays. "Especially when bonicing between parallel surfaces located on opposite sides of the hat". Further, when the electromagnetic frequencies approach the natural resonant frequency of the tinfoil, or some prime factor thereof, they have the effect of creating an amplifying wave, or even a feedback loop - resulting in exponential increases in cranial cavity temperature, exceeding the boiling point of Oxygen.

This debate rears its ugly head again. Well, after two years experience with both Technologies (LCD & Plasma). I still prefer the Plasma over the LCD and IT cost less and is a larger screen size 42" as opposed to 30" for the LCD (purchased online of course). While the LCD is a true HDTV (720p), and the Plasma is EDTV. The Plasma still looks better IMO for all video sources. The couple of advantages the LCD has are weight savings and Brightness in sunlight (the plasma isn't pleasing with a bunch of sunlight shining on it - but I never have the shades up when watching any TV). Other than that, I will still take the Plasma over the LCD anyday.

Granted, LCD's may catch up with Plasmas from a eye candy picture viewpoint, but they haven't yet IMO. And in case Anyone is wondering if I bought a crap LCD, the answer is NO (it's the Sharp LC-30HV6U LCD). The Plasma is a Panasonic TH-42PWD5UY.

Again individuals have different preferences, but to me the Plasma wins hands down. Most people that come into my house like the LCD better, however, but I think it has more to do with the aesthetics of the case (nice silver compared to the dark grey plasma).
