If you're an American you can stay in Canada legally for upto six months without a visa. After that you're an illegal alien!
Also... You won't be able to work and go to school during your six months in Canada.
I personally don't like this idea. Living in the Detroit area, I've gone over to the Windsor side countless times!
This is going to be a major inconvenience for people on both sides of the border. Cross border shopping and entertainment are very common things! People just go on the spur of the moment.
Like there's a lot of great bars in Windsor. I especially enjoyed those when I was 19!
But now I see a lot of cross border activities going away. Because there's this new "tax" on border crossings.
Passports aren't cheap people! I don't have one, because I can't see paying that much for one. Since the only place I go is Canada.
A lot of people aren't going to bother getting one... Because not only is it expensive, it's also a pain in the ass to get one.
If they do go through with this, I think they should come out with a $20 "citizenship card" or something that you can get at your local security of state. Otherwise it's just going to be a major pain in the ass for everyone and it's going to hurt the economy on both sides of the border.

I'd love to see a court put someone away for not watching advertisements. They can sue me first for violating the DMCA because I've been "circumventing" advertisements while watching television.
I don't own a DVR, but I do record programs with a VCR and while I'm watching them later, I actually have the gall to fast forward through the ads.
Even worse perhaps is my habit of muting the tv during commericals or (shockingly) getting up and leaving the room to get something to snack on or drink.
I guess I should prepare for my future court date eh?

My problem... No one offers a decent calling plan to Canada, and I make far more calls to Canada than I do to the US!
So I'm currently using Vonage, and I have unlimited calling to Canada. If I could get a decent Canadian calling plan on a US cell phone, I'd switch!
If they do pull free "super saver" shipping, I probably won't order from Amazon much anymore. For me that's the biggest advantage they have. It's the major reason I shop there. If they start charging for shipping, I'll start buying elsewhere. I really like being able to just toss little things into my order once I hit that $25 mark. And I bet a lot of people are like me in that respect. So in the end Amazon will end up losing customers.
I really don't see the point of it. Most orders $25 and over are free anyways. I've NEVER had to pay for shipping on Amazon. (Except of course when buying from individual sellers. But the $79 doesn't cover them anyways.) So what's the point?? Do people actually order enough junk from Amazon to exceed $79 in shipping per year?? LOL
It's about time. This has been the only Trek series to bore the heck out of me! Seriously, it's by far the worse. I'm a big Trek fan, yet most weeks I can't bring myself to watch the show.

I'm with you on that... HDTV is a waste of time. I'm more than happy with NTSC. There's nothing on tv anyway, so why should we all have to buy a new tv to see nothing with a better picture?
I'm not very impressed by HDTV. It's really a very crappy system for over the air reception. In tests that have been done, it comes nowhere close to NTSC in range.
There's far better digital systems out there, and we're stuck with one of the worse! Just like that IBOC crap they want to put on the radio. Because of all the stupid poltics we have here we're ending up with inferior digital broadcasting.
Once again America will be behind the rest of the world.
I agree! I also listen to NPR, and I enjoy the BBC, Radio Netherlands, Radio Australia, etc... on short wave. And of course good old Coast to Coast AM on AM.:)
There's a lot more to listen to on the radio than just music...
