I love to go see my favorite bands live but unfortunately I tend to like a lot of bands that never tour even near me, some rarely in the US at all. I don't have the luxury to fly to Sweden for a show, so I get their CDs instead.
That and some bands aren't that enjoyable live. Or at least some of the crowd isn't enjoyable. I'm not a fan of moshing and bringing anyone and everyone into it whether they want to or not.
This game, if real, is right up there with the two movies about 9/11 that are out/coming soon. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0475276/) No matter how good these movies may or may not be, it seems to me that they are only made to make somebody rich. The first time I sawa poster for the World Trade Center movie I wanted to break open the case and tear up the poster. I felt the same anger when I saw a Flight 93 trailer. After seeing it a few times (the trailer) I had to leave the theater while the trailer played. I've worked at theaters for a few years now, seeing lts of movies come and go only having been made to make money which is fine unless someone wants to cash in on a tragedy that is so recent. I know they were joking, but the post about South Park saying we should wait 23 years isn't too bad of an idea.
I have a Sony Ericsson w800i and I can sync, charge and use it as a modem via usb. I can sync and modem via bluetooth as well. I haven't tried it but using it for internet access shouldn't be hard. even with a Mac. I don't have any sort of data plan so I can't test it. I use t-mobile.
then instead of getting around the "bad" karma/modding system we should lobby for its repair.
maybe I'm just a little bitter because once I was modded flamebait and then my karma went from good to bad. it has since to change. though I don't make very many posts.
I'm not too old so I can say that my first one was a Gateway 2000 486. All I remember is playing wolfenstein 3d in black and white because it wasn't even a color monitor. After that we upgraded to a Celeron 400mHz system from eMachines. yeah a big jump. but we all loved that old Gateway so much...
not all java programmers would've modded you down for that. at least there would've been one less. I thought it was quite funny. not much exaggeration from the truth. people with mod points should read more carefully than they do. I've had bad karma for at least a year because of one post that someone thought was a flame. becasue of that I've not had mod points or the chance to metamoderate since then.
the one I have now doesn't cost me anything to upgrade. I'll pay for 10.5 (leopard, I think) when it comes out but not vista. I'll get it for free through school anyways unless I graduate college first. I'm class of '09 so it's not too out of the question.
As long as the games I want to play are still XP compatible I'll keep it around, or if the older games I want to play aren't Vista compatible.
a. more free space
b. a lot of buyers are kids that will trade in their xbox's so they can afford a 360
c. convenience of the user(s) one set of controllers on one console for more games (who doesn't win there?)
what you said about ubuntu could be said about os x.
now I know you have to buy a mac to run it but it's not that big of a sacrifice. used macs can be had for cheap. refurbished mac minis are really cheap. ibooks are cheap as well.
but for the average user (including me for linux) installing/choosing thier own os is not easy to do. I have never got a good install of linux going and I've tried a ton of distros. if I want to use linux I'll use a live cd so I don't have to worry about getting things installed. but even those aren't pretty sometimes. linux has years to go before it is worthy of much more of my time. as a college student I can't waste much time on petty things like linux when I have a pc that works fine and an ibook that works even better.
my school has it all over campus. you can only get in by logging in with your school username and password though. other than that it's not protected in any way. it probably blocks certain ports and things to prevent p2p and BT stuff like it does in the dorm's wired connections. would that be illegal too? it'll never pass so I'm not too worried about it.
I have a decent solution that is quite cheap. half the cost of an ATI AiW. works great. no bs. I bought a PNY one but there are others available. It was from newegg but they don't have it anymore. ~$75.
and you pointing out the obviosness that I am a prick makes you any less of a prick? but of course to protect your karma you had to post AC... at least I am not afraid to voice my opinion and let the world know who is saying it.
am I the only one that couldn't care any less about anything star wars related? don't get me wrong I wnjoyed the older trilogy and I saw then new one, but really, come on now. why does this have to make it to/.? is it anymore important than reposting yesterday's stories and last weeks?
you did RTF summary right? it said beta. don't expect it to be perfect. Firefox isn't beta anymore and I still have trouble with it on occasion. no software is perfect.
I agree but also I'd like to add that many people (myself included) are a bit deaf anyways from various concerts and loud music in their cars so quality isn't even noticed. I do have a few sacds I think but I can't tell much difference, if any. 128kbps mp3 is usually good enough though I rip at at least 192 for my own cds but for the mp3s that are borrowed from "friends" aren't always that high quality.
Can I not be a fan of speed metal and not like moshing at the same time? Did the RIAA have the gov't take that away too?

This must be the same guy that wanted to buy my phone on eBay and have me ship it to Nigeria.
So given that /. loves duping things will Monday April 2 be stories recapping each fake story from April fools day?
am I the only one that first read that as MTV Shows How to Shut Down Brain With Light?

I don't know what the differences are exacly but there is a version of OS X that is for servers - OS X 10.4 Server.

I don't see how this is modded insightful. Funny it is, insightful it is not.

After I used said dongle I've decided it was worth the cost of the upgrade. Now I still have my original XP SP2 machine for games.
I've been reading for a few years and I still don't know what IANAL means... does it mean that they like anal or what?
for those that go to concerts without earplugs compressed music sounds just the same as a cd of uncompressed music as long as it's 128kbps+
