While it is true that HardOCP didn't seem to begin the article with the best of intentions, they didn't (as far as I can see) engage in any slander. What they did do was point out some very interesting facts about Infinium as a company and interpet those facts to state that the whole mess was just vaporware. It isn't against the law to write a biased article, just to write a false article with the intention of slandering someone.
I don't think Penny Arcade has any intention of actually getting involved in any litigation. Remember the Strawberry Shortcake incident? They're doing what they do best, just poking fun.
The problem lies in the fact that the dot pitch on HDTVs can often be pretty bad. I would definitly recommend a 20" LCD like the one that Dell has. Windows XP includes high-contrast themes to make reading easier as well as a magnifying glass.
It used to be that if I site wanted to generate traffic it would have have to find an obscure misspelling not yet taken, or provide meaningful content. Verisign's program effectively allows them to turn ALL misspellings and unclaimed domains into a revenue stream. That sounds like abuse of their power to me.
Greece isn't America remember?
On that same note though, it's not like everyone immediatly listens to the supreme court even in the United States. I'd bet that now that their judicial system has declared the law unconsitutional, it'll take a lawsuit against the Greek government to force them to stop enforcing the law.
I'm confused as to why this could even be an issue. Aren't lan parties GREAT for companies? I know that if I made a game and a whole bunch of people who didn't know each other got together to play it, I'd be totally psyced. Were there any previous instances where a game publisher took or threatened legal action as a result of a lan party? I really have a hard time beliving that any publisher in their right mind would do such a thing.
Does anyone else see this as an attempt to make an issue out of a non-issue? Games are marketed towards guys because guys make up the vast majority of the gaming market. Why don't they target the elderly with hiphop music? Becuase its more cost effective to target the younger crowd. Girls gaming? Great... But no one should complain about the fact that way more guys game then girls. Thats the girl's own preogatives.
Its really a shame I think. When I first heard of the bluetooth spec, I imagined getting home from work and dropping my phone next to my computer only to have them sync my address books automatically. I thought that maybe I wouldn't need to buy a funny cable to use the internet via my PDA and cell phone. I really really belived that I could have a bluetooth printer, PDA, phone, mouse, and keyboard at my desk and I wouldn't so much as ever have to touch a configuration file. How did they mess this one up? USB works because its Universal. Having only a smattering of incompatible bluetooth devices (with a premium cost) prevented bluetooth from ever being the wireless USB.
Shameless Plug: I explained my own spam problem on my website here It's only gotten worse in the last month. Yesterday alone I recieved 108 pieces of spam. Luckily I can attest to the abilities of SpamBayes
I think that from personal experiance, the best thing that Yahoo could do is find a way to lower the pagerank of: 1)those obnoxious portal site 2)Those sites that are just other crappier search engines 3)Those crappy storefronts that all lead to the same store.
I have the perfect idea! The Russians should design an awesome heavy lifting vehicle, capable of putting over a hundred tons into orbit. With a launch vehicle that powerful, they wouldn't need to pay attention to things like how bloated their actual space vehicle was. Yay! Shuttle Program.
I think what Nintendo managed to do at the last minute with the Gamecube was make it the absolutely perfect second console. Here is a console that takes up hardly any space, is cheaper to buy, and has a whole handful of exclusives. Would DVD playback have helped it sell better initially? Probably, but its much less of a factor now. I'd really love to see some numbers as to how many people who recently bought Cubes bought em as a second console.
Har Har.
Anyway, anyone else draw the AOL-TimeWarner versus Comcast-Disney comparison? Whats with internet companies thinking that media companies are a good match for them?
An article run by the BBC says that Microsoft never releases cryptographic/DRM/activation portions of the source to its partner companies. If this release really did come from "Mainsoft" then it doesn't contain any of that that stuff which I'm sure Microsoft is happy about.
I'm pretty sure the parent was going for the (+1, Funny) but there really are great qualities to paper. If you had to read a 20 page essay, would you prefer to read it on paper or on a computer screen? Now we just need to wait for that electronic ink paper stuff we've been hearing about for years.
Projectors are absolutly awsome if you've got the space for them. Honestly though, someone needs to do something about lamp life. They've made some pretty good strides with decreasing bulb cost, but I still don't want to be replacing a bulb every few months.
You must have had some pretty lame CRTs in the past then. I'm reading this on a crisp 21" CRT at 1600x1200x85. Using a CRT I can use a high resolution for my desktop and still have access to lower resolutions 1280x1024x100 to use with video games. I can have my cake and eat it too. Of course the monitor weighs 60 pounds, but my computer don't do a whole lot of moving.

Is there some sort of contest for the most hated corporation going on between Microsoft, SCO, and Verisign?
I hope that Verisign gets involved. The anti Microsoft and SCO comments need to be spaced out a bit more then they have been as of late.
No, the last one was Mario 3. This one is Mario Bros.

Seriously guys, I found that one amusing. More offtopic then a troll though.

Do the people building the cars want them to last 10 years with no maintinence? Dealerships make wads of cash in their auto shops.

Ha, everyone used to work for Inktomi. My step dad as too. When sold off their caching program assets he was shown the door.

Lovin' my cube.

If I unplug my desktop, it lasts a few miliseconds. My friend gets about 45 minutes with his 3.06 Sager laptop. Thats at IDLE!

If I had em, I'd give you 5 moderator points for that one!
Yea I'm saving, but not for a $500 "HD"TV. My first HDTV is going to do 1920x1080.
