Of course they're trying to rush the release of Windows 7, Mac OS X "Snow Leopard" is right around the corner.
I guess that Apple ad about Microsoft putting all their money into marketing instead of R&D was closer to truth than some people would like to believe.
Nope. In such a situation, most people will not choose what they do not know and so will still choose IE, MS Office, etc.
The damage is already done for current users. I do agree that new users would be more inclined to choose "anything" since they wouldn't know the options, but even so, you fall into the "I'm using what everyone else is using" and you're back to square one too.
In any case, dates should be saved as complete entries (year, month, day, hour, minutes, seconds, milliseconds if needed), not "number of milliseconds since date XYZ".
You're assuming that in 50 years: - the battery will still be able to hold a charge - there will be no data loss on the magnetic media (hard drive) - there will be no data loss on the optical media (CD rot) - the soldered components will still work (tin whiskers) - the display will still work (no idea about inactive LCD degradation)
Why take an eMac over an iMac or Mac mini? If it were a Mac mini you wouldn't have a problem such as having to open up the computer because of a screen problem.
That's one of the reason why I don't want an AIO desktop computer. The other reason being that I don't have to buy a 24" display to get a better computer. Heck I don't think a 19" iMac would even fit on my desk, let alone a 24" one.
At that time I was doing searches about bittorrent clients. For a second I thought the RIAA/MPAA had bought Google or something.

How is that flamebait? A low-end VIA CPU would be too slow for AJAX, let alone Flash.
Flash sucks on anything other than IE on Windows, even with a 2GHz Core 2 Duo CPU.
Indeed, if you forget about complex AJAX websites and Flash, a VIA CPU would allow you to make a netbook with a really incredible battery life.
Didn't work for the martians in Mars Attacks!
Don't we already have CPUs running at 3GHz?
But... but... Apple IS the best thing ever, and how dare you oppose them!
Well ok, not everything from Apple is good. The finder is just okay.
No, no... the finder is not okay... it sucks!
Man, what am I saying... Finder is terrible!
And he can't sing good either!
Get him away! Booo! /old guys from the Muppet Show
Okay then.
Prendre éteindre ma pelouse!
Bleh. I think I need a new english-french translating program.
That's like... I dunno.... buying a BMW and putting a LADA engine in it.

Don't play their game. Change the rules and force them to compete or die*.
* in this case, "die" is equal to losing more marketshare.
It should be +5, sadly insightful

"Service Temporarily Unavailable" doesn't look like a hair style to me.
So? Seems pretty obvious to me. Just ask Sun to build the internet filters.
Listen: Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government!
Isn't it the Y2036 bug?

Only 44 more years to go!
Get off my future lawn!

Even more so, I bet an emulated 8MHz 512KB Mac would boot under 1 second on today's computers.
You weren't kidding when you said "USB-powered anything".
Do you have a link to that small USB-powered LCD screen?
Congratulations, you just invented a new word!
I think you'll find a lot of mass production products on E ink's website (see the products of Citizen and Seiko for examples of bended screens).
