I find that one problem is that Open source is not that revolutionary of an idea. When debating with my peers the advantages of Open Source, I sometimes have problems distinguishing it from communism.
My friends (and myself included) are very republican, and "Shared work by a community to reach a common goal" sounds very red to us. I can see how this model works in application to Free or Open Source software, but I have trouble explaining it to others.
I think that the public focus, at least towards open source software, has shifted to see firefox as the most glaring example. Still GPL IIRC, so the point is moot, but as far as i can see, firefox has more users than linux will for a while.
I agree that the current software licensing/EULA scheme is broken. I myself use almost all free software for that reason. However, what little commercial software i do own (games) are fully legal/licensed copies. If headway on this problem is to be made, piracy is not the answer. If everyone played by the rules, american consumer wouldn't be treated so much like a criminal.
Hmmm...Any kind of FPS is good for coordination and reaction time, Enemy Territory is a good free one. also, some typing tutor or whatever might help. As far as reasoning goes...maybe she should read a book or something?
America has not rejected innovation. the PSP doesn't seem like innovation to me, it's just a palm in a different case with a 3D accelerator and some other custom hardware. America just is not willing to shell out almost 300 dollars for a machine that has yet to prove itself. Case in point: atari Jaguar. Ahead of it's time: yes. Worthy of anyone's money: no.

HDTV is television at a higher resolution then the average TV. that's it.
I suck at grammer, but doesn't "$NOUN is released" just mean "$NOUN is [in a state of having been] released"?
I'm not sure, but is it not valid to force the tense that way?
Dilbert is right, and you're a dick. It was worth the karma, trust me.
Name of the program? Link?
History shows us that Sony can be bad too...almost as bad as Microsoft.
no, they'll just lurk, and chuckle quietly to themselves at all of the fallacies argued here.
